Yesterday Jill Nicolini and Good Day New York came to my New York City art studio to see what I'm working on and look at some of things I build with LEGO bricks. Video: WNYW Fox 5 New York, August 14, 2012.
As a newcomer to this site who has seen a small bit of press myself (internet famous for theoretical dollars, not tv famous for real dollars,:) ) I have to say what a great and purely creative,and positive experience it has been. Everyone here is friendly welcoming and creative, when lego projects go beyond the saftey of mocpages however you see the internet can be a bit more meanspirited and trollish. I can't thank you enough for providing a forum to share my love of the lego artform in a creative friendly environment, and I'm pleased to see you getting much deserved recognition.

Hey, Sean, you're getting to be quite the media darling. First, Parade contacted you, then PBS, and now a FOX affiliate has contacted you. Again, as Chris Phippson has said (I hope that I spelled your name right), congratulations on bringing LEGO into the mainstream. Also, congratulations on making it into a true art form, literally. Though I'd love for you and your team to build something for me (a massive capital space ship with tons of smaller vehicles), I simply don't have the time, space, or money for that now, so could we collaborate and build it together, please? Thank you.
Very cool, Sean - always love seeing other artist's studios (Lego or otherwise)! Thanks for the behind-the-scenes peek at your place, and the work you do. Hope the commissions are rolling in!
Very interesting broadcast!! It's always exciting to see how, where and in which conditions you -official lego artists- work. I really liked it (even if Jill tried to make the show alone). 4 millions bricks went through your hands, did you say?... Now I understand why we're sometimes in depleted stock here, in France... ;)
I'm so sorry for the spamming. I feel like it was my fault that he did becasue I kind of put the idea in his head. I felt so bad afterward becasue I didn't think he was so malnurished in the head to actually do it. But then again, why pick on the people with no power if you don't like the website, what makes administrator untouchable? If you have a bone to pick with the site, be up front with the guy in charge. Still, that was kind of wrong. Anyway, about your interview, I loved how she kept saying LEGOS and you said LEGO Bricks/Pieces and such. It's the little things that make you laugh. I don't know what your take on it is, but every time I heard it I was always thinking, "She said it wrong, she said wrong AGAIN."
One word remains to be said: awesome! (Okay, maybe I'll throw in a few more). It's really great to have Lego, as an art-form, getting publicity of such magnitude. Perhaps someday Lego will not only be the greatest toy in the world, but also the greatest artistic medium! Thanks for sharing Mr. Kenney.

Yes, 1.75 million as of last count. That big wall of bins has about 300,000 ... the drawers you see later on have up to 35,000 each ... and lots of big cardboard boxes in the back ... plus all the pieces that are built into the models and sculptures sitting around... it's amazing how fast it grows :) But TV people just like to hear "1 million, 2 million..." :)
if someone was trying to make Lego a career what do they have to do to do that. I love the Empire state building with the monkey on top and the Chrysler building.
Wow, your studio is really cool. Only about 2 million pieces?!? That's too few! You need more! :P BTW, I really like your model of the Richardsville Elementary School that was on the cover of Parade. I really like the transition of old to new! However, the article said that you used an "whopping" 1453 bricks to build that. I think they need new English and Math teachers! :P Keep up the good work, and get more Legos!

She did! Live TV is a whirlwind. Congratulations on being on the news, that must be great publicity for you! It's neat seeing your workshop, and that house looks awesome. You shouldn't let reporters in again though, it looks like she knocked a cylinder out of your crown. ;)
