Episode 2: The Prisoner and the Exile
The eager young Dwarf who greeted Fayku and Drainir lead them through Moria to what they knew to be the chamber of both the final battle for Moria and the Fellowships struggle against the infesting Goblins and Orcs.
The coffin of Balin had been removed and the record book now sat on the lap of a strong looking Dwarf who occupied a large throne. "Welcome Fayku, Drainir. What can I help you with?"
Fayku and Drainir tensed themselves and Fayku asked. "Who are you, to start with?"
"I am Thorzad the Great, High King of Moria, conqueror of the Goblins and last true Dwarf of Moria." Thorzad rose with the words, his hands resting on a great bone axe.
Fayku was angered by this. "Fayku....no." Warned Drainir, sensing Faykus anger. "Then we have a problem." The younger Dwarf snarled. "Because I am the last true Dwarf of Moria. The last time I stood in this chamber I watched my Father get cut down by Orcs. And now you tell me you defeated them all alone?"
Thorzad considered for a moment before resuming a powerful dialogue. "I lead these forces and purged the inner sanctums of the mines yes. Outside my protection.....Orcs still run wild. But nobody dares to go outside, not when I rule so just and fairly."
The last words made Fayku finally snap and he drew his sword.
Thorzad was unfazed as more Dwarves rushed to his protection.
Fayku, realising that Drainir wasn't going to help, and not wanting to fight his own, laid down his weapon.
"Take him away." Thorzad ordered, and Fayku was dragged off.
"And what of you, Drainir?" "I will not fight you alone, but you must realise that by all rights he should be king if any." But Thorzad wasn't having it. "Then it is treason. Apprehend him."
But Drainir had already moved, ducking the flying axes and sprinting towards the nearest exit.
He escaped out into the wild. "Should we go after him?" One of the Dwarves asked Thorzad. "No. The Orcs will get him if he doesn't return and we will get him if he does."
Drainir looked about him. The only light he could see was back the way he had come and he cursed himself for not bringing a torch.
But he journeyed on, trying to get as far away from Thorzad as possible.
He remembered the warning too late. The Orcs were all about him now, they had crept upon him as he fumbled in the dark.
"Well what do we 'ave 'ere?" Said one. "A Dwarf outside the big walls?" Hissed another.
Drainir swung his axe wildly, but achieving nothing more than annoying the Goblins.
"Kill 'im!" "No. The boss'll want to speak with him." A bigger Goblin with a huge axe pushed through the ranks. "Come with us." It said.
Drainir was dragged for what felt like hours until he was dumped at the foot of a roaring fire in front of a huge Uruk-Hai. "What do you want Dwarf?" It growled.
"To bring down Thorzad." Drainir replied. The Orcs about him began hissing and stamping but a deep chuckle from the Uruk silenced them. "I am Gorbaste. Why would you want this?" "He is tampering with nature... I can feel it. I noticed.....the smell of Death....the lack of corpses, and the insects that pestered all but Thorzad." "Then you have felt his strange magic too. What would be in it for us?" "Once Thorzad is dead you can have all of Moria. I will leave with my friend." "Then....we will fight by your side today Dwarf."
A huge roar went up from the Orcs and they set off to war.
BOOM! What do you guys think. The next episode will be the last episode of this season, and will be the final battle where Drainir and the Orcs fight to overthrow Thorzad.
