`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves...
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
About this creation
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;

All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

-Lewis Carroll

My contribution to VirtuaLUG's Alice in Wonderland layout at BrickWorld 2012 was the chessboard battle and Jabberwocky. (based off of Tim Burton's theatrical version of the Carroll classic). This is the still image that I used during the design process, along with repeated viewings on YouTube of the relevant scene.

Due to the fact that other members helped supply the Red and White armies for the battle (Tyler Halliwell, Heath Flor, Lee Jones and Mister Bones, plus the fantastic decals by Mr. Xenomurphy) and I was unable to attend, I don't have any pictures of the completed scene; the above photo is the only picture I could find of the complete board and ruins. Now it is all torn down and sorted, except for the Jabberwocky, which has permanent residence on my shelf.

However, here are a couple of shots that others managed to capture:

Fourth Dimension Commentary: Yes, this is a little bit 'after the fact', but I've had other things taking up my time. I would like to send a final 'thank you' to my fellow LUGers that helped to make the battle happen (you know who you are and I love you guys!) and the overall collaboration a success. Here's to an even better next collaboration, whatever that may be...=P ~H

It's surprising that this hasn't been commented on in a long time! That Jabberwocky is awesome! I could go on and on about it! The face and wings are incredible! "Callooh! Callay!" Fantastic job! That poem has been one of my favorites for a long time!

While I don't particularly like being gone from LEGO and the community for such long periods of time like I have been, it is always a treat to come back and see how my favorite builders have progressed in their skills. The creation is wonderful (no pun intended). Great source material to pull from as well!

The picture between the lines "He chortled in his joy." and "`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves" is probably one of the best LEGOŽ photos I've ever seen. The whole creature is stunning and inspired/motivated me while I'm working on a second project. Thanks for that.

No matter how long I know your works, I always end staring your page in awe. The phograph in this one is superb, the bley pieces scream "touch-me" and that chess board is one of the most epic boards i've ever seen. Be proud my friend, very proud.

Quoting Leda Kat =^..^= Wow!! wow wow wow!!! Your wip pics while making this thing did not do it justice. Those wings, that jaw, those eyes, those toes the amount of amazing parts usage on this beauty all gelling together to create a seamless beast that not only looks like its alive but ready at any moment to leap through my computer screen and bite my eyes out. Immaculate presentation of this astounding creature puts this over the edge, pure gold.
Am I blushing? =) Thanks for the high praise, sweety, it always makes my day!~H

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Excellent. I love how your mocs have this dark undertone. The head, neck and tail are all fantastic. My favourite part is the apex of the wing - I suspect you could open and close the fingers (the wings)?
Yes, the wings will easily open up, but they are as closed as they will get. It looks a bit odd when they are opened up, having no webbing, so I didn't photograph it. Thanks for stopping by, I'm glad you like it!~H

Quoting Tyler Halliwell That tower did not want to go back together. I don't think we ever actually connected all of the stairs. Great build, and I hope as well that you can attend next year. let V-LUG take Brickworld by storm!
Yeah, it looks like you had to fudge the stairs a bit, but you guys did great. I know the chaos that is setting up, especially when you have other things to set up as well, so I thank you all for your efforts!~H

Quoting Chris Phipson I was about to go on a rant about assembling that thing ;) Great work on this whole setup man! It was truly an intergral part of our layout and the Jabberwocky was simply... awesome! And now it's time to begin work on next year's collab... "whatever" that may be... Oh, and maybe you could be kind enough to actually show up next year? ~ Chris.

As Ian said, beware the Jabbertalk---I saw the thumbnail, and twas awesome, and the slithy places in my brain did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy it was looking at the epicness, and my cerebral cortex outgabe. Beware the better builder than you, my son! (your the better builder) The envy that bites, the hand pieces on the tail that catch! Beware the sleek design bird, and shun the frumious grey pieces! He took his LEGO broadsword in hand: Long time better building he sought; So rested he by the technique tree, and stood a while in thought. And, as in uffish awe he stood, The creation, with eyes of red tooth pieces, Came whiffling through the MOCpages, And was epic as it came! One, Two! One, Two! And through and through the builders brain was caught! He left it live, and with new ways to build, he went galumphing back to his bricks. And, has thou got 5 smileys? Come to my arms, beamish builder! You have! Oh Calooh! Callay! He marveled in his joy. I saw the thumbnail, and it was awesome, and the slithy places in my brain did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy it was looking at the epicness, and my cerebral cortex outgabe. :D The chessboard is nice too. Beware the Jabbertalk, when Ian rambles on and on about how awesome these creations are. Okay, that was a rather silly pun, but...yeah. Lovin' the Jabberwock design, anything based on a nonsensical poem is bound to be good. It was great seeing these at Brickworld. I remember being very impressed with the chessboard/tower. Thanks for sharing Mr. Dendauw!
