4-Wide DeLorean Time Machine with Hover Mode
A 4-wide version of the DeLorean time machine with hover mode as seen in the "Back to the Future" movies with Michael J. Fox.
About this creation
Believe it or not, this one has been around on MOCpages for one month without getting noticed ;-)). Where? On this photo!

This is like a mix between my 4-wide DeLorean with "normal" wheels and my 5-wide one with hover mode. I had thought about a 4-wide with hover mode for a very long time. Then I gave up and built the 5-wide instead. Ironically the solution was quite easy, just a small step away from the 5-wide.

Enough words, here are some photos:
Left front view, doors closed.

Doors open

The interior is just the same as on the first 4-wide. You can see some more photos of it here.

Time for the hover mode:1, ...

... 2, ...

... 3 - Tadaa!

The "money shot": This is how it works.

Time for another set of wheels...

I really like these ones!

The car looks cool, but it can't fly now :-((

This is my 4-wide LEGO DeLorean time machine with hover mode. I hope you like it! :-))

How you achieve this level of detail and functionality in 4 wide is just beyond me. This really is micro-engineering at it's best and this has to be one of the best BTTF Deloreons out there. Superb work!

Quoting robbie c could you please put it in a different format it wont open in ldd.
Hello Robbie, I've opened the LDD file on a Mac with OS X 10.6 and on a PC with Windows 7. It works perfectly on both systems. I can make a ZIP Archive of the HTML instructions from LDD and send it via e-mail. You can send your address to brix<at>nilso.eu

The amount of detail in such a compact space is amazing! You dared to build an operational hover function that small and it totally works. What I find really amazing is that it's as functional as it is accurate-looking. The vents out back aren't overly dominant and the use of the t-shaped pieces on the sides for the flux bands is clever! Well done.

Quoting Locutus 666 Incredible awesome car. I like the movies, the hovering delorean and finally THIS moc! I build it myself in LDD with your pictures and have to pay a lot of respect. Such details packed into this small moc! Clever builded masterpiece! A 5/5 cant be enough! If you want the LDD-File, post me your email-adress. :)
Thanks for the offer, but I have one, too ;-)). I usually build the models first in LDD and then with bricks.

Quoting TheLegoNoitAll . awesome solution, i did see the delorean on your icon, but i didn't know it hasn't been posted, i thought it was an older model. i would have thought that it was impossible to do it in a 4 wide! i'm assuming it's the old version with different wheels?
Exactly! As you can see on the last pictures it can easily be converted into the "old" version. The rest looked fine for me, so I "only" changed the wheels. As I needed some parts of the 5-wide, I almost completely dismantled it and rebuilt the 4-wide with some of the parts. I was lucky to have the LDD model for that ;-))

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Nils it is fantastic, sorry I missed it.
No problem, it was "hidden" quite well. ;-)) I was just curious if anyone would notice, so I didn't mention it. By the way: It's has even been on my buddy icon since then ... :-))
Quoting MortalSwordsman . A very simple solution to make the wheels rotate but building an accurate looking car on top must have been the main challenge. Excellent stuff
Thanks a lot! :-))
