Short on inspiration at the moment, and wanting to promote some of my favourite designs, I've been picking past designs (mostly at random) and giving them a little bit of a makeover.
Some, like this one, have mostly had small cosmetic changes, while others will most likely be a little more extensive.
List of (notable) changes:
1. Leg armour has been bulked up and redesigned.
2. Weapons storage locker / display added
3. Forearm cannons added
4. Cockpit shielding redesigned to cover large holes
5. Foot detail changed to give effect of additional joint and close up holes
Note:
Anyone who saw this (and the original) before today (5/9/12) may not realise that I messed up slightly with the design.
I've now fixed the error in the new pictures added today.
The error basically was that the whole body was held together by two pieces - the legs of the minifig. Remove the pilot and the main body came apart in to pieces. The current LDD file and the new pictures have an extra plate to hold the shoulders to the waist piece so that the minifig is sitting in the mech, rather than holding it together.
How did this happen? I'm not sure as the original frame was built without the minifig in place. The only thing that I can think of is that originally the minifig was standing on a 2x1 hinge plate, which when I made the cockpit wider to accommodate a sitting pilot, I added a 2x2 square plate on top of, but must have deleted for some reason. Anyway, the mistake is now fixed and the overall design remains mostly the same.
The new images also include a redesigned weapons storage rack, with security features.
