Third time is a charm...
About this creation

^ Inspiring, isn't it???
Well, to me it was ... after their brand new but grotesque looking AMR-One prototype and the resulting debacel in the 2011 24 hours of Le Mans, Aston Martin decided to quit the LMP classes and focus on GT-racing again. In my opinion it was the right decision. But since the very successful DBR9 GT1 racer had come to ages and its V-12 engine had too much power to conform to the new GTE Pro regulations, a "new" ride was needed... and found by developing the former GT2 V8 Vantage costumer car into the now "V8 Vantage GTE" called racer. To get the hands on modelling an Aston Martin spun around in our hards for a very long time now. I did some experiments on LDD and Sven soon transformed and developed them into real bricks. When I saw his Vantage the first time I was also stunned... and I knew I had to make the GT-racer. This is still a work in progress, though, as you will see in the following pics...
The roofline isn't the best here... it looks Porsche-ish! Just press here and there and it will look much better...
I have to excuse the blurry / overexposed pictures. Black cars tend to "swallow up" some contoures...
Opening doors and rear. I like the fact that most racecars don't feature hinged engine covers ;)
Sven's Coupé holds a rather spacious boot and a hat rack (seriously... who needs a hat in this car?) - the real-world racecar shows huge air hoses and oil tank. In my model you will find a LEGO® Power Functions battery box with cut off side supports...
...connected to a main switch... and four pairs of LEDs.
...and four pairs of LEDs, three in front and one for the rear lights. My dream is to squueze in a differential, an PF IR-receiver and three M-motors to this car on the road. However, there are some brainteasers to solve at first. Particularly the steering with these wheels and hubcaps... blah!
Until then you have to be content with lights only... but hey, many lights! Competing in the World Endurance Championship and consequently the Le Mans 24 hours, it comes around like a rolling Christmas tree.
Hard to be seen... the rear lights. The result is more convincing in complete darkness.
High beam on!

That's it for a start. As I said, it's still a work in progress. I cannot say when or even if we will see it driving around on electric power... but I plan to build the engine and interior as good as possible with all those wires. Hm, and a different paint job might look perfect? Guess I have to spend a few bucks in BrickLink stores...

...gathering medium blue and orange parts B-)
Thanks for your time & I hope you enjoyed your look behind the scenes!

Three in a row! You guys have really been busy! I like that you added the working lights on this one, and I like the widened fenders as well, nice parts usage there. Excellent! Now hopefully I will get a chance to build something new soon... |

Wow another incredibly detailed and accurate Aston from you. Those wheel arches are fantastic. The lights are also a great addition. The photos look great - I also over expose my black cars as it is the only way to see the details. Very impressive stuff. |

Definitely my favorite Vantage so far. The power functions are icing on top of a VERY tasty cake! The color scheme is perfect...though I would prefer a Martini livery. But does this car have the Martini colors? I know the DBR9 does. Black does still look very good for this car. -LB Jr. |
