Ralph McQuarries Concept Cylon Fighter.
WELCOME ONCE AGAIN TO THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF MY TRIBUTE SERIES.
About this creation

It looks simple with the hair pulling behind the scenes technical blunders and triumphs.

The Fighter look some time to build especially with me adding other projects while I figured out “how the frack am I going to get that section to work.” Admittedly I left some detail off . Never the less it still looks the part..

OK… No there is no Cylon flying the craft as I didn’t make one to sit in there but as it is a Cylon the works “ Plug and Play “ rings in my head so why do the toasters need instrumentation, hand controls and other flashy devices…

They can remotely fly the craft or just plug themselves in and fly it .. HAHA…

The craft is large and heavy but still strong enough to pick up and fly around the room until gravity kicks in and then it becomes too heavy and it has to land or crash……

These images are on black background to emphasize the ship and with the other 40 images I have yet to edit they and these images will be on Starry backgrounds for magical and realistic effect.

DIMENTIONS ARE
Length 1085mm X Width 960mm X height 210mm.
OR
Length 42.71 inches X Width 37.79 inches X 8.26 inches.

Now this creation has been completed it must be reused to create the Concept Battlestar which will complete my tribute to a Master of design Ralph McQuarrie.

But wait There was another Baseship I have found online but I am not sure if it was one of Mr McQuarries.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this creation.

Quoting Michael Rutherford What an excellent shape! That saucer is really cool. You can see Macquarie’s lines all through the build. How robust is that frame? Is it fragile? I am trying to imagine this thing up on some sort of pedestal for display. God it would take up a lot of space in your average room. Middle of the dining room table I think. It's a beast that's for sure. Attack!
Thank you Michael for commenting. It was strong enough to have some fun flying it around the room with two hands, when I knocked it it came down with a brilliant crash landing scene. that will be posted soon for the fun of it. Cheers

Quoting Mark Kelso Another drop-dead gorgeous creation, Garry! It's difficult for me to actually grasp the full scale of this monster (creations are always bigger than they appear in pictures). I'd love to see this in person. I know you'll be dismantling it, but a guy can dream, right? Perhaps some day you'll grace us with your presence at one of the US conventions (Brickworld Chicago would be my vote!), but meanwhile, my heartfelt thanks for sharing your incredible work with us all here on MOCpages. Again, beautiful MOC, and please...keep 'em coming!
Thank you Mark for very encouraging comment. It was big, heavy and when I knocked it off the stand it fell apart well. Some images will be posted soon. I would love to meet other huge and crazy obsessed AFLO like me but in Australia they are all on the mainland. At the moment I enjoy seeing what others create online. Yes some sections proved to hard for me but I hope someone else will take up the challenge and build this beast of a fighter better and with all the missing detail. I am rich with plastic blocks and spirit but money seems to flow like water and in short supply. Lucky for me I have many bricks in my collection and helps to reuse them. HEHE Keep up the great work and good luck on your next project.

Quoting Tim C Oh my goodness, Garry. Your abilities are simply unmatched. There are many excellent builders on this site, but there is nobody--let me say that again--NOBODY on this site that makes my jaw drop the way you do. Every build you bring makes me ask, "And how did he do that?" First off, I am digging the Ralph McQuarrie series. Such an ambitious undertaking, and you are tackling it like a champ. I love the shape of this build. It is so difficult to blend the plates the way you have here, let alone giving them that seamless look at which you never fail. The thrusters may be the most detailed design I've seen yet. I love the very deliberate greebling that you added there and throughout. And the cockpit, (even without a cylon), is simply gorgeous. Such good work, Garry. I've said it before, I will say it again with this work, you are an inspiration. Can't wait to see what's next.
WOW..... !!!!!... TIM ... What such grace and poise in this overwhelming comment and praise. I try to do justice to this great man's vision and to create something that I would like to see myself. When I get stuck on a section I look at many of the thousands of builds to assist me in getting the shape right if that fails I just keep making it over and over again and clean up the mess later. I hope to see more of your magnificent creations. Pleas feel free to add any of my builds to your "pick of the week" To inspire and be inspired is the way we can improve and expand each and every build. Thanks again. Cheers
