About this creation
George G. in the 2012 MOCOlympics category: "I am the Walrus".

Just off the Cornish coastline, a 6 metre tall metal Walrus has been spotted floating around the sea! Who knows what this metal monster is, so the Navy has been called in to inspect. But this isn't any old Navy squadron, this is the HMS Beatle! Captained by Master McCartney, and crewed by by Lieutenant Lennon, Helmsman Harrison and Seaman Starr.

McCartney: "Hello! Anybody there? Don't be afraid, I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together."

The noise of creaky machinery occurred from inside the Walrus, and then a megaphone screached on.
Voice 1: "I AM THE EGGMAN!"
Voice 2: "I AM THE EGGMAN!"
The machinery creaked once again.
Walrus: "I AM THE WALRUS!"

Two egg-shaped cyborgs emerged from the water. Vermeesch! Phipson! What have they done to you.
"WE ARE THE EGGMEN! WE ARE THE EGGMEN! WE ARE THE WALRUS!"

Starr: "Harrison, there's a huge robot Walrus in the sea, we're making conversation with him, and there are two walking heads with laser guns - what have we been smoking?"
Harrison: "Did you really want to know? Or did you just want to invite that Walrus on board and have a good old sea shanty!"

McCartney: "Semolina pilchard, climbing up the Eiffel Tower."
Lennon: "Elementary penguin singing Hari Krishna."
Harrison: "Man, you should have seen them (George G.) kicking Edgar Allan Poe (last year in the MOCOlympics :P)."
Eggmen: "I am the eggman!"
Starr: "They are the eggmen!"
Walrus: "I am the walrus!"
All: "Goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob!"
______________________________________________
For this round, I built the Walrus in the style of the brilliant Bruce Lowell and his studs-on-every-side builds. I then had to think up an idea to use Mr Walrus, and that's when I remembered the recent film "Battleship". I thought it would make a fun little story to sort of recreate the film but with a Walrus instead of aliens ;)
The Destroyer Battleship came together very quickly. I tried to make it look like a serious ship but also in a quirky Beatles sort of style - it's short and really tall, with a very thin base and wide top.

As it would be near-impossible for me to build a base to display this on, I just decided to build the coastline in forced perspective to add something else to the whole MOC and add a bit of colour :)

Good luck to everyone in the contest, and the judges with their difficult task of deciding on the best!

The ship is excellent, nice details and such. I don't know what half of it's called, but it looks good. The forced perspective is also a nice addition, it really completes the whole thing and gives it a polished feel. And then there's the walrus. That's a dang good walrus. I'd even go so far as to say it's the bestest walrus ever. |

Hey, George, I am creating a new MOCpages account. Considering you have added me to your favourite builder list, would you mind adding my new account? You can find it here: http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/96414 Thanks |

Ship and walrus are both amazing creations and the Beatles are for the win in any case. But what I really like here is your idea to add the coast line. |

Fantastic. The battleship is very well done. I like the overall look of it. It looks like a battleship should, but done in a comical style. The bottom of the ship is very unique. You don't normally see the studs on the side like that with boats. I also like the Lowell technique you employed on the walrus. Expertly done. |

Love the walrus George, love the ship and the horizon (really clever stuff that, sets the photos up superbly). Was unable to read the text without scouse accents in my head so you got that across well! Great job, funny and looking good. Good luck. |

Two quality MOCs for the price of one! I like how the Walrus has been made from lots of "real" bricks and you weren't afraid to leave the studs showing. |

The walrus doesn't seem like a popular theme to tackle, yet you've pulled it off with excellence! The ship is full of eye-candy and the lyrics with the Beatles are a great touch. But what I'm REALLY fond of is that you made a forced perspective horizon in Lego! Good luck with your judges!

It's the FP that takes this up a notch from awesome. The boat is clever, I like how you "Beatle-ized" it. The walrus is also great, I see that you've been practicing since the Ewok in the MocAthalon to great effect. Superb work and good luck! |
