Hey look at that! It’s not Halo!
The third mech in my newly named Dawn Forge MOC Theme, the details of which are on my homepage. Sort of a spiritual successor to the Radiant Class Mech, my somewhat under-detailed first MOC. What can I say…I like chicken walkers.
This one is designed for use in urban situations in both anti-armor and anti-personnel capacities. Often found working in consort with ABSOLVER droids it is well suited for both taking and holding metropolitan areas.
EDIT - As some have noticed, this design was influenced by the walkers in Battlefield 2142.
About this creation
Some sort of sensor array or something hanging down there.
Sure, armor the heck out of the thing, but leave all those vital hydraulic hoses exposed. Stupid engineers!
I’m pretty happy with the auto-cannon ammo belts, but I’m sure it’s been done before.
I debated whether or not to put that antenna up on top, but I wanted at least a little bit of asymmetry.
I went with a solid housing and a moveable barrel this time, instead of having the entire weapon tilt as in my previous mechs. Very Battlefield 2142ish.
Great MOC of the Day, congratz. Funny, i've always wondered why people leave their mech's vital hosing exposed, as if the couldn't spare a few more pieces to cover it up. And aren't those 240mm guns a little small to be 240mm? The other weapons are really cool. I'm not sure the sensor array thingy is placed appropriately... anyway, overall great MOC. Happy MOC of the Day!
Instant appeal; this thing is just amazing. I love the details on this, but what I like most is just the shear scale of this build. I can see how the enemy might piss themselves looking at this. I always emagine myself as the guy looking up at it in one of the last pic's. Beutiful.
Hey Brian. A few things. I got on for my weekly MOCpage visit (I'm spending less time here and more (productive) time elsewhere. Like therebelution.com) and I noticed that you haven't commented on my new hardsuit -> http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/121560 Now I'm not saying this in a dissapointed tone, don't get me wrong. I know that there isn't possibly any way for you to keep tabs on all of your fans. But I'd appreciate it if you came and took a look. I made it (dynamically) posable with you're affinity to non-posable mechs in mind. So like I said, I'd be greatly honored if you'd pop by for a looksee. Now there's also a reason that I commented on this mech specifically. You said there was an inspiration? From a specific EA-produced game? I recently started playing it and discovered my favorite bi-ped mech of all time. I decided to build it eventually when I had the time (and money) and I figured that I'd just give you a heads up. So thanks for being one of the most incredible mech builders out there (quite possibly my favorite). Keep on building ~ Nowhereman
I like it

sweet perhaps you can do pimp my mech! nice i like the bf 2142 mechs the look so cool gatling guns for the win
I've seen a lot of great MOCs on the site and call a lot of them my favorites. This, however, is at the top of the list. There's something about it that's just amazing, I love it! It has certain presence about it, okay, I'll say it: majesty. Who knows for sure what makes a muli-ton war machine majestic, but you pulled it off. When I say majestic, I don't mean flowery and pretty, but in a way that commands respect without you realizing it. It makes you stop and think, "man, that's not just good, its awe-inspiring". A great MOC in every way. Peace - Packie
Is it legal to build this well? This is awe-inspiring, it looks phenomenal, it has great articulation and it's built solidly. You know all of that, but it's still true and I am inspired now, thank you.
Hello, this is Nowhereman from a new but growing mecha community here on MOCpages (sort of like mechahub, except you have to be invited) I and Phong Chang would like to formally invite you to join. If you would like (and I can understand if you wouldn't, how many times have you uploaded your pictures to various sites?) to join, please send us an email expressing your intrest so we can send you the e-mail and password need to access the account. Keep on building, Nowhereman
Totally Awesome!! I wish Lego would start putting more effort into putting out stes like this, instead of some of the other stuff they have out.
On another note-
I actually have one question- where do you get the sheer amount of same color parts (bothe basic bricks and "specialty" parts? Do you guys all work for lego or something? Because I have tried to find parts I am having a bit of a hard time....
If possible, could you drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org ??
This is an absolute masterpiece. Forgive me for only being able to give a 5/5--this mech deserves far more than just a 5/5.
The cockpit is amazing! The whole...smoothness and natural look of it...is unbelievable.
ZOMG! I swear that my mouth didnt closed for about 15min while i was checking the photos!
I was (and still am) completely amazed!I mean just look at that beast!! The detail, the seize, the firepower, OH MAN! Its simply AWESOME! Just as cool as its «brother» ASCENSION. A totally five yellow headed creation!
did you take apart all of your dawn forge? i wouldnt have the heart to take apart the schism or ascension. in fact, im not gonna be taking apart my mini versions. i look foreward to seeing what cool dawn forge creatins you come up with. maybe combine the ascension with the schism or some other mechs. i hope you dont stop making dawn forge though.
I re-made your SCHISM again as mini in v.2. It is now bley and far more accurate than v.1. Please comment on it to tell me what you think. P.S. Your Dawn Forge series is highly addicting to build. I may need to form DFA! (Dawn Forgeahoulics Anonymouse) Lawlz. Later ~Sho.
That is the best MOC I have ever seen. I used to think the lego guns were sweet stuff, but this totally blows them all away. I you could basically sell this in a toy shop, already made, and people would gladly pay for it. You have got real skillz, man. You should try making a lego gun next. If you don't feel like making a big one, you can just start with a pistol. i would really like to see a lego gun of yours.
Kudos on the stud less-ness, and I like all of the huge armor. I have to say, I was thinking of a cockpit almost EXACTLY like that! I was going to use it on a tank. Thanks for making me unoriginal! ;) Great job.
Alright, I've got an idea! I think that you and the other builders from atop Mount Olympus should get together and make the ultimate MOC. We'll take Goldman and Brassington and have them do the backgrounds, Jassim will do the capitol ships and you do the mech and ground forces. Then we'll get master builders like Ward, Kelso, "The Shannons", Rubin and Rutherford (just to name a few, sorry if I missed anyone) to get all the little details sorted (they're all excelent with them) and then... wait for it, let it sink in. There it is, your starting to see it come together aren't you. It makes me feel naughty just thinking about the possibilites. OK, I'd be happy with a photoshop of the idea, but the reality of it would be sweet. Nice work here as always! ~Chris.
I don't remember if I reviewed this or not. I'm too lazy to check. Anyway... Easily one of the best mechs I've ever seen! A great mixture of greebling and sleekness at the same time. I've always been a fan of your mech feet for some reason. the cockpit is very nice as well as the weapon array! Cheers!
I love this 'Mech, But I have a couple of questions... Number one: What kind of joints did you use on this? And Number two: How long did it take you to build this? Because it is awsome, But the reason I gave it a 4 is because of the Ammo belts, They kick-butt, but I wouldn't think that having then exposed would be a good Idea....
This will be the first time I've given out one of these of MOCpages, and they are indeed very rare, but I give this MOC the Sean Gentile Gold Seal of Intense Mind-Raping Approval. Indeed, a well deserved 5 smilies.
An excellent mech but not without some flaws. Although I strongly admire your building style I do not know whether going with a transparent cockpit is a great decision as it makes the mech look somewhat cartoonish. In my opinion a coffin style cockpit would be better. Also, I do not like the angle of the mortar housing. Although it is the correct angle for mortars to be launched it would maybe look nicer if they were flat and boxy which would flow better with the rest of the design (perhaps they could tilt to aim when needed). I do not need to tell you what looks good – 58 other reviewers have already done so – but the ammo belts are just fantastic… Alex.
Great moc I like how it has a large intimidating profile to it as it steps into the battle field with confidence. Also I liket the fact that it does'nt even look like lego like it could be a real mech.
Ya probably got enough smileys by this point to last a lifetime, but couldn't resist putting in my two cents worth! So... outstanding moc ya got here!!! You've managed a great balance between detail(greebling) and form (i.e. not overduing the greebs!). When I get around to trying a mech, I'll surely be looking towards yours for inspiration. In a flood of mechs, this leads the way and is unforgettable!
I have to say, it's hard to find anything you don't like in this creation. (It's more likely to build a timemachine) If you were to make a game featuring your mocs and they even looked a quarter as good as your mechs, I'd buy ten copies. 5/5 (Obivously)
anyone who DIDENT give u a 5 is nuts...i MUST have the instrucks for this"SCHISM CLASS URBAN ASSALT MECH"its simply awsome i've never seen anything like it this is the best mecha ever made in the history of legos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My gosh, I can't believe I haven't seen this thing before today. I'm a big 2142 fan, this thing is magnificent. Seriously man, great details, great weapons, great articulation, and cockpit. Loving the underside missile pods for sure! Heh. Can't wait for your next MOC, as I'm sure it wont disappoint! ~Jon
This 'mech is an absolutely amazing creation, bringing realism to the atrociously fantastical mecha genre. The Schism's guns, though seemingly small for its size, provide an air of real power, as they are things that are understood to be possible, rather than the ridiculous weaponry of most other mecha. Also, instead of having a bizarre color scheme made solely for the purpose of looking "cool", this 'mech has a color scheme based upon the environment in which is intended to operate. Finally, it brings an astounding level of detail, showing everything from the ammo belts to air intakes.
This 'mech is an island of inspiration in a sea of banality.
The size this thing is impressive and it's well built also. The torso could have been taller and the shoulders seems too scrunched in. Other that those criticisms on the overall shape, everything else is beautifuly done.
You cease to amaze me. Halo creations to this! This is one of MOC page's finest. Though I have one concern. The cannons, 240mm is a bit off-scale if you compare the actual lego cannon to the minifig. But, no time to critique every little thing. Great work!
Holy “expletive” (or ‘S’ word as my daughter calls it). This is, hands down, the best mech I have seen. I feel a sudden urge to build one, but I feel I am getting bogged down with too many genres as it is. *Sigh*, I will just have to live vicariously through those that build them. The legs/feet are my favourite elements. Lee.
jeeze! what do you do for a living again? What? top sectret government operations! lol. Brian, Im not a fan of battle Mechs but creativity, innovation and intricately polished detail and design really wow me. But seriously, isnt this thing a bit...overkill! ITS HUGE! You say its designed for urban combat, that , to me implies confined space...get my drift? lol This thing could take out a whole damn city by itself, just by launching a few projectiles from city limits. Anyway, I like the new "dawn Forge" theme, im gonna go read the premise after I finnish this review, solong.
As soon as I saw it I knew it could only be yours -- it's got the signature Mondaynoodle stamp. So smooth... The tan highlights work well with the dark blay, and exposed hosing always seems to look good even if it would never fly in the real world. Worth the wait and then some!
