Back to the Future Part II Delorean
The funtioning two cylinder engine and steering on the part I Deloream began to get old. I then decided to hollow out the Delorean and modify it to create a functioning hover mode- one in which you could turn a part of the vehicle and as a result, all four wheels would move into hover mode at the same time.
About this creation
The original concept was to link the two most representative features of the Part II delorean (hover mode and the Mr. Fusion) The original plan was to make the hover mode operational through the Mr. Fusion. This was the key mechanism in that system, and it would fail me repeatedly. I decided to gut out the rear once again, to strengthen the frame and ditch the Mr. Fusion idea.

Drive mode. Not too many changes from the previous.

The wiring on the side was brought down closer to the wheel well and modified to follow the curve better.

The interior remains unchanged with the exception of the two long axels portruding through it. They are what turn the front wheels in unison with the rear.

These green tanks were modified to technic elements, as they look much more screen-accurate.

The rear was changed to fit the look of the Part II time travel components. The vents were rebuilt as well for accuracy.

As soon as the Mr. Fusion no longer needed to have the strength to turn the wheels, it was modified to appear more screen accurate.

The bottom in drive mode.

The new mechanisms are operated by turning a gear under the car. There's a lot more strength now and it hasn't broken yet.

I removed the front end to demonstrate how the system works. I didn't want the wheels to simply fold under the car, but out. They stick out a bit to the sides in the film. The ball and socket joints saved my life at this point.

I had tried rubber bands at first, but no gearing system could take that kind of tension without breaking.

The final resulting system works every time and looks great!

Hover mode!

Doors still open!

First off thank you for checking out my Mach 5 . This back to the future delorean is outstanding! This is what Lego should have gone with .the Ucs scale bttf delorean . There are a lot of delorean models on this site and brickshelf but none of them come close to the level of detail found on yours! I love how you made the rear louvres and the way the wheels rotate . The interior looks awesome. Fantastic job!
