12 gun Brig
About this creation

Making port at Brickmania 2013

My latest ship, I went for something more realistic this time (the tall masts and sails).

A 12 gun trading ship, built for speed, the Interceptor from Pirates of the Caribbean inspired me here.
Although I picked some other colors.

She's built on old prefab hulls (3 midsections).

The decks are gray because I ran out of (dark) tan :/

Wait, what's Mell Gibson doing there ? :P

For those that don't know, a Brig is defined as a two-masted vessel, square rigged on both masts and the main mast (last mast) typically has a brigsail attached, also called the spanker (the trapezium-shaped sail).
(If you're thinking about a joke right now I can add that the upper deck near the stern is called the poop deck )

...Oh sorry, was it boring ?

The lifeboat.

And now some comparison pictures:

a family picture (all the ships in this picture have been made using the same building technique).

...Engaging the Phippy Christine, better watch out for that.. eh.. brig-sail :P

...Engaging the...wait...I didn't have a name for that ship either :O

Three ship sterns, let me know which one you prefer.

And last but not least, engaging Farore's Wind
This picture made me realize the sails of this ship are too big while those of Farore's Wind are too small...

I hope you like it,
I made this ship within a timespan of 2 weeks while I could have done it in a day :/
Well, it's the result that counts I guess.
See ya!

Quoting Joe Ramlet Pretty sweet vessel you've got there. When you say Brickmania 2013, do you mean World War Brick 2013?
Thanks, the 'Brickmania' I'm talking about is a yearly event organized by the belgian lug (in Belgium).

To me its got the triangle sail of the stern of a galleon, with the rest of it the body of a brig. Somewhat of a hybrid ship.

Quoting Louie M But about the 3rd mast i dont know exactly what it is called, its a small mast with only but a triangle sail, I dont know what type of mast that its called i know its not a foremast or the main mast
I'm not sure either, usually, on a barque or fully rigged ship, the third mast is called the mizzen mast.

Quoting Louie M Yeah im planning to post it im almost done, just need to do the small things its called The Tobago, is a small 3 mast brig style privateer ship. I used the hull style and sails of the Queen Anne's revenge, i like the dark colors makes it look unique and distinct as a British privateer brig. Though the cabin is quite cramped due to the fact i used much of the deck length for the ship's guns, but it does well, a figure can at least stand up with a tall hat in the cabin
That sounds good, only, with three masts it's no longer called a brig. A birg always has two masts, your ship would be called a 'barque' or 'fully rigged ship' depending on how the last mast is rigged

Quoting Louie M That WIP somewhat I made a cabin using both bow/stern pieces and the cabin worked out fine. Maybe in the future I'll do a cabin like on the WIP, but for now it works, but the problem is that the cabin cant have any windows do to using both bow/stern pieces.
Perhaps you could post some pictures of your progress, I may be able to give you some feedback then.

Quoting Louie M Great ship Sebeus, how do you make those sails, what material are they made of? And also can you make a tutorial on how to make a cabin like the one on the Elizabeth not like the one on the queen anne's where its taller than the rest of the ship
Thank you, the sails are made from recycled paper, I started a WIP thread for the current ship I'm working on, also with a cabin lining up with the gun deck, this may help you. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=95240 (there are three pages).

the comparaison pic is a dream! you tempt me into making a traditional ship first, but, I already have so much work... still, it s interesting to see your techniques, as now, I can taste it since I have one, I estimate my biggest problem to be the body of the ship, I really like yours, but, in space...I ll have to find a trick to make it harmonious, this ship is a beauty, although it might look less realistic, a little color in the sails would accentuate the excitment of this treasure, the poop deck? lol! how can this be boring? lol!

That is a truly nice brig. Good ship design there. The shape and colors are fine and the realistic looking white sails are nice.

Quoting Subix V. Ships are great in shape and design. Rigging is missing.
True, on the first ships I simply forgot about the rigging but I'm planning to equip them with shrouds atleast.

Quoting Deus Otiosus It is fun to build witha template, but is it not more rewarding to achieve a new level of building with every MOC?
You mean like, a total new kind of ship-building ? I'm working on something like that, I'm just not in the required creative mood to make progress on that for the moment ;)
