About this creation
This is the mechanical part showing my idea for a traction control. I intend to use it together with a RCX (mainly because it is easier to lock the differential for a certain time before release of the lock).

The left differential is the main differential used as in many lego creations, the driving wheels are connected to the axles that extend above and below the yellow technic beam. The right differential is turning when the driving wheels do not rotate equally fast (that means in a turn or when there is slipping occuring). This is accomplished using two 24-gears (top, directly linked) and two 16-gears (bottom, chain-linked). When the right differential is turning, it drives the 4-knob gear, which touches the touch-sensor. When the frequency of the touch-sensor being pressed is above a certain level, the RCX moves the change-over catch (red, located far left), thereby moving the transmission driving ring (red) down. In this way the main differential is locked.
I think the locking mechanism should hold for a few seconds. The main differential (left) should be driven via the 16-gear with clutch (dark grey) or via gears mounted above or below.

The freqency level of the touch sensor is needed to prevent the locking of the main differential in a common turn.

Since the picture is pretty much self-explaining, I dont post the ldr. There are no photos, since I didnt realy build it.

It would be very cool if someone could post this mechanism working (U-tube / picts).

This is really inspiring! Makes me want to go make my own systems and workings for a technic supercar. I'd not have this much success, though.

Traction control for all four wheels would be quite hard (unless you make a traction control for every differential (front left/right, front/back, back left/right).

This page may get removed unless you post a picture of something LEGO, but anyway - a clever idea. Useful for truck trial / 4x4 operations where you can push power back to the wheels with grip without needing mechanical diff locks (the same way most modern off-roaders work). I'd think 10 seconds is waaaaay too long though. Anyways, good luck. Having this feature on all three diffs of a 4x4 would give you an amazing machine. Nissan GTR?!.... No rating as not a MOC (yet).
