Disney Princess...
About this creation
MocOlympics2012: MocOlymcs2012
My great opponent: Legopard

Bracket4
Category:
Disney Princess: Oh yeah, I went there... I just LOVE the idea of guys who are used to building space ships and other war oriented stuff having to build girly princess stuff. So, pick a Disney Princess (yes, an official Disney Princess with a movie about her) and build a scene from one of her movies. Feel free to hate me now and good luck!

Hi guys, for this round, I propose 2 creations.
Rapunzel and The Little Mermaid.
First, I want to thank the judges for having given me this fantastic theme. I love cartoons, and for me they are great source of inspiration in creating Lego.
I did two creations, because I wanted to create two different styles, one with normal Minifigures (Rapunzel), and the other, with great characters and witty (The Little Mermaid). In Rapunzel, the scene recreated,is when she decides to leave the tower and go to see the world. In the Little Mermaid, the scene recreated,is when Sebastian sings the song Under the sea.
I hope that my work will please and enjoy you.
Thanks a lot guys.

they re both beautiful scenes in different styles! pure work of art, your talent is always impressive to me, the meticulous grim tower, and the graceful harmony of colors and shapes of the underwater scenes are very stylish, even without a label, I could tell the 2 nd scene was yours, not many people build with that sense of style, bravo riccardo!

Sorry to reply so late Riccardo. You don't realise how LOOOONNNNNGG I spent trying to decide between you and Legopard's entry. I looked back and forth, back and forth, I went awat to eat dinner and come back fresh? Back and forth...In the end, for me, it came down to the top of Legopard's tower being more organic, his hair technique for Rapunzel was cool and his base was more organic, more natural than your square one. But still, you built that excellent Little Mermaid scene, which made me think you ought to win....back and forth... So to decide it just came down to the fact I liked Legopard's entry about 0.000001% more than yours. You lost by the THINNEST of margins. You are a GREAT and CREATIVE builder. I know from experience the mocolympics is VERY cruel: it demands a winner in Art and in Art there is no such thing as "winners", only creativity and imagination. So again, thank you for your fantatic entries and your questions :)

Quoting Pedro Resendes Once again you surprise us with your creativity and skills. Personaly I don't like to compete because someone has to lose (even if I'm the winner). I totally understand you felt upset: I would, too. Nevermind the rankings, just go for the fun! Your talent is too unique to «put in the same bag» with others', anyway. May you build forever, fellow MOCcer ;)
Pedro this your comment flatter me. A huge Thanks for this wonderfull comment ...for me. I don't know my great friend... i built Lego, because my soul need this...and you, you like this... and for me... when someone likes my creation... is Life... is Life! Sorry my friend, i'm not crazy, but Lego are my way to express myself.....I'm speechless for your incredible comment....thanks thanks thanks!

Quoting Chris Roach both of your MOCs were great! last year i got the peoples vote (more likes) in round two played to the judges interests and still lost my round. The problem with a competition like this is great MOCs can still loose in a head to head because there must be a winner and loser in all matchups its the natue of this copetition. Judging is swayed by emotions conveyed by the MOC, build techniques and many other factors. You have nothing to be upset about - you have shown us all your wonderful capabilities with the brick! There just unfortunately has to be a winner and loser!
Thanks a lot Chris to have replay. I did not want to be arrogant, but the discomfort has overtaken me. Your explanation was clear and mild. Thanks again, and sorry again, I meditate on my behavior.

Quoting Thoy Bradley Aww Riccardo! You got the short straw on what was a very very close call! Both your builds are amazing and it sad to see you miss out this time. The Little Mermaid build is fantastic on every level, my two younger sisters would force me to watch it (majority rules) every weekend, so it has a special place in my heart. I look forward to seeing you create more pieces of magic! ~Thoy
Thanks a lot my friend for your great words for me, I am very disappointed with this result and I think I did not deserve it. However, my friend, you will not have to wait long to see my new creations,I going back soon and show everyone my skills. Thoy, thank you for your moral support, you are a friend.

Quoting Blake Baer Hi Riccardo, awesome job man! So sorry to hear you didn't make it to the next round. I think that's the nature of the game though. While I personally think that I deserved to lose, I can definitely understand your indignation at your loss (especially considering you and he had almost the exact same build, not even considering the fact that you had a Little Mermaid scene in there!). However, one thing that is good to remember, is the judges' word is final. Its good to ask for what you can do to improve, but don't challenge their decision. Still, this is a great entry! :)
Thank you Blake, your words comfort me, and make me calm. Accept the defeat is right and duty. Everyone has his duty in this show. However, I know very well my imagination and my capacity to build Lego and that of my opponent .... just look at my web page and that of him, and the answer is obvious, the creations speak for themselves. Thank you again Blake, it was very important for me to know what you thought. My friend, I hope to repay you one day.

Valiant entry! I think the reason that the other judges chose your opponent's entry over yours was the accuracy of the tower, the hair technique, and the fact that he had pictures of a few things that happened in the movie rather than just a single event. The MocOlympics isn't just about who builds better, but who can take their build and give it a life of its own.
