The Confederation Of Gaufran has released its new MBT- the tyrant. Armed with a 130 MM main gun and the latest advanced composite armor. It will spearhead all of Gaufran's future ground campaigns. I spent a ridiculous amount of time making this look as epic as possible: "thats not good enough, that should be higher, a bit to the right, ect" but I am pleased with the result- especially the cammo which was a little experiment. P.S this is a class of vehicles- more to come(:
About this creation
This took a month to make and another month to upload, but I really wanted it to look right. The photo editing was a pain, my computer refused to do it 3 times in a row but it was worth it just to see the tank in ats natural habitat-(battle)
Any tank enthusiast will be able to tell which tank this is based off, but the leopard 2 just looks beast so I took a little (lot) of inspiration from it.
The chasis was hard to build as all my technic elements are tied up in prototype 97's aug brickshooter (awesome but unreliable- sorry p97, but it is) therefore the ground clearance isn't great. also, the only wheels I have in bulk don't fit the tracks ):
The back of the turret showing the storage boxes for crew supplies ect.
The huge exausts from the twin bio-diesels. crew have been known to be killed by the enourmous back-blast when the engines are startd in cold weather! the back is also Leopard 2ish in style, but not exact.
The turret removed. the turret ring is 8 studs wide, to accomodate the large gun and increase crew space.
The front hatch opens to seat the drive- although there are only 3 seats the crew is 4 as the loader is busy moving between the magazine and the gunner.
The engine grill. this automatically closes during deep fording and the engines' supercharger has both liquid and sand filters built in, though it works better in dry, clear air.
Who ate all the fuel? these did. The two bio-diesels would normally produce 1500BHP but with the super charger they kick out 1850! note the puny fire extinguisher.
The turret, showing more equipment racks and "hard" countermeasures on the sides.
both hatches do open. Note the laser rangefinder/targeter on the right. this not only gives the gunner the range, but guides the cannon launched rocket projectiles and can "blind" enemy rangefinders in a variety of frequencies, from infa-red through to ultra violet. this gives a much incresed first hit capability.it also gives a new use for the top hat piece (:
The turret interior with the magazine. if I had bought four brickarms MAAWS then I would be able to fill it but, alas, I am nothing but a peasant!
The gunner's station, packed with the most advanced fire control systems money can buy.
The commanders station, with touch-screen moniters to the rest of the tanks systems. this allows the commander to keep an eye on what the rest of the crew is doing or take immediate action when needed.
The tank during a combat execise. God I love those new shells.
The Tyrant can fire 3 types of conventional munitions- armor piercing discarding sabot, HEAT, and squash head, plus "marksman" laser guided top attack rocket rounds. The latter is particularly effective against chobbham armor.
The MG3 machine gun with "WAVE" auto control. the gun fires automatically or manually. This takes alot of effort off the comander as the gun auto targets near-by advesaries.
The overall specs:
Armor: thickness classified- depleted uranium/titanium/steel
Armament: 1x 130MM smoothbore cannon, 2x 7.92 mm machineguns. 1 coxial, 1 turret
Total horsepower: 1850
One final pic- You looking at me? Good, then rate and comment- Jack out.
Mr. Kenyon. I have invited you to join us at Decisive Action because we need more skilled tank builders. I recall the impact of this MOC in the group it was originally posted, and that is exactly what we need over on DA. Bring your skill, bring your bricks, bring the pain! And as always, ATTACK!
This is a really nice MBT. I like the use of colored bricks as cammo, and the grenade projectors on the side of the turret. Very well done. The photos are also quite clear. The only thing I don't like is the Brickarm contamination. Your lego work is exellent. The Brickarms only distract from your tallent. You should focus on your building skills, not expencive after market products.
It looks like I'm not the only one who designs a tank for months. I have one myself too. The last modification was 20 minutes ago. Now onto your build. It's a bit big for minifig scale but you put tons of hatches, details and even an interior which is a big plus. Nice work Jack!
