The Spectra is a variable form aerial attack AF. A successor to the Mercury, the Spectra is capable of transforming into a streamlined flight mode.
About this creation
The Spectra borrows ideas from the Varanus, an aerial combat AF that is descended from a long line of flight-capable AFs that extends as far back as the 'ancient' Tornado.
The AF is designed to carry a special coil cannon, allowing it to fire powerful high-speed projectiles without jeopardizing its flight stability with the typical recoil of slug-firing or energy weapons. The shoulder-mounted .50-caliber anti-air cannons can be used in AF or flight configurations.
While not as compact when transformed as its predecessors, the Spectra has a more aerodynamic profile. As its ramjets are somewhat underpowered compared to its GVX and GSX brethren, drag reduction and maneuverability were of great importance to the success of the design.
Flight-mode AFs. Definitely one of your more brilliant contributions to Mech design. The biggest problem with most aerial Mechs is their poor ability to operate on the ground, forcing them to operate almost entirely in the air. The problem I see is that Mechs' biggest advantage is on the ground, as they can't compete in flight abilities with aircraft. ...But I'd say you fixed that, seeing as this Mech literally transforms into an aircraft. The Spectra itself is very good, though I still can't come to grips with masculine Mechs having high-heels... :P Well, I'll stop rambling. Good work.
