About this creation

Space Cadet Stevie has forgotten to close the airlock door. Stevie is sucked out into the cold vacuum of space without a spacesuit on. Being a mini-fig from the 1980s, Stevie keeps on smiling, as this was the only expression that mini-figs could have in those days. This was why "In Classic Space no one can hear you scream", you had no choice but to keep on smiling!

This photo has a different focus so that you can see Stevie more clearly.

An overview of the whole thing. The airlock is an 8x8 frame, as is the base. This is a replacement for the original photo, as the base which I'd lazily plonked the important bit on was bigger and not helpful for the competition. The view from the top still looks the same.

While it's not my place to question the judge's scores, I personally think this is the most inventive entry in the current Flexible Fig contest. I love how outside the box it is, both in technique and literalness! ;) Brilliant stuff sir!

Thank you for your very kind comments! To be honest I just built this because I thought that the idea of the build would be fun, like everything I've put on MOCpages. I wouldn't have been inspired to think of it without the competition, so I'm very grateful to the Timinater for sorting it all out. As for the marking, well the judges have their criteria and that's how competitions work and it was a simple build. The main thing for me is that I had fun and other folk enjoyed it too :)

Of course, I am endlessly entertained by your sense of humor, and the calling of attention that you do to the smiling fig in peril is...yeah, I'll say it: classic. Thank you for your comments! I was exactly after that stretched look, as though Stevie was a cartoon character. I put the feet on in the big boots because I was stuck for how to end the legs. I think that these give that FP look. I couldn't think how to do the hands bigger though. Out of my comfort zone and learning lots, which was fun! Oh, and the idea made me smile, which motivates a lot of my builds!

Stevie is wearing yellow clothes! That's not a Classic Space tattoo on Stevie's chest, it's a shirt. Honest! Stevie had to be yellow, partly to stand out from the background and partly because I've only got those Technic axle extenders in yellow.

You're right, is a simple build, it only took 30 minutes to make, after an evening of thinking. Strangely it's becoming my most popular MOC. Many thanks for your comments! It's great to get constructive criticism. More food for thought, just like this competition, which made me build something I wouldn't normally do. Following your comments, I've changed the last "behind the scenes" shot to the MOC sitting on an 8x8 base. I didn't think that the background was imortant, so I just lazily plonked the MOC on the first black plates that came to hand. Good learning for another time! Thank you for putting your time & thought into the judging process.
