A sweet little ladybird is blown by the wind far away from home. What will become of him ?
About this creation

Category : A Bug's Life.

Opponent : The worryingly talented George G.

Our hero has landed in a dirty alleyway. Time to explore his new surroundings...

'I'm hungry. I wonder if I can eat that ?... Ugh! smells horrible...'

'I wonder what that's for ?'

'Oooo look, this could be a little house for me!'

'Maybe not; smells kinda funny...'

'Finally! Something natural I can eat!'

He's not the only one interested in it though...

'Hey! Buzz off!'
Who knew a little ladybird could be so tough...

'Ha! He's stuck in that, whatever it is... what's that noise-'

'EEEEK!' Maybe not so tough, after all...

'Don't tell that monster I'm in here!'

'Maybe he won't be hungry now...'

'Help!!!' It's not clear how the tiny ladybird closed the matchbox, but I did tell you he was tough...

'Whew! I hope he's eating something really bad for him!'

'Let me know when it's safe to come out!'

There. I hope the judges enjoyed that. Here's a view of all the elements together - everything in this picture is around 5x life size. This was fun, although I did not enjoy building the spider; I don't even like touching it... Please excuse the bad pun on the matchbox... and that scoreline comes from the wilder shores of fantasy... still, a man can dream.

Your talent for well-observed realism is clearly on display here! Really nice build again and too bad that you and George couldn't both go through. Nice lettering too... the scoreline looks reasonable to me!!

Hope it's not a lego builder's life... lol Even with bugs, you've got this style, so unique! I'm fan!! I hate spiders, so I have to say: your spider is freakingly well done. This year, you went further in M.O... and it was more difficult. Next year, you'll blow up everything!!

The sheer size alone is impressive, which totally makes it believable from a bug's perspective! Great entry!

A valiant effort, but George's entry (while quite a bit more disturbing) was a bit more creative and well-executed. My vote goes to your opponent.

Wow Nick, fantastic job mate! The scale is impressive. How are big are the spiders where you live? In NZ your lucky if their foot print is larger than 2 inches. This is excellent and should produce what will be a fantastic show down between the British heavy-weights! ~Thoy

Too big!! But no venomous ones, fortunately. Our big ones are all ordinary house spiders, probably no bigger than yours; they just seem like it! Thanks Thoy.

I like how the photos gradually reveal the various parts of this MOC, finishing with a very realistic spider. I also like how you've done the delicate web and the bricks in the background, with their curved edges, work really well.

Quoting George G. Wow Nick, awesome job! I fidn't realise the brickwork until the very last picture, they look really great. And all you insects are superb! I've taken the category quite a bit differently, and I hope it pays off, but this is definitely going to be hard to beat! Good luck :)
Thanks George - best of luck to you too!

The match and the matchbox are really well done, also the cigarette butt! Good luck with your judges! Ps: I've got an AFOL at home and he's still in the race! Can you find who he is? Wow Nick, you just keep raising the bar! I love the setting, the brick-wall is genius. The matchbox is superb, I really like how you included the used striker bit on the side. I have to say though, the spider really steals the show. Of course, I really want to see Jango sitting in the thorax piloting it. ;) Fantastic work, and good luck!
