MO:R4 Thoy Bradley vs Legopard "Sink or Swim?"
My entry for Round 4 of the MOC Olympics. Category: Water Theme Park.

Water Park: Build us a fun time water park complete with things like slides, a wave pool, a lazy river... slides! (does not HAVE to include all of these. They're just suggestions of things in a waterpark). What would your "epic" water park look like? Minifig scale would be preferable but micro/midi scale is acceptable.

Its 0200hrs in NZ so I'll make this quick. Fresh water springs have become the location of three joining roads. The early settlers build constructs around them to capture the water and make fresh water pools which could maintain cleanliness. Guarded by a pair of Roman soldiers, this small but refreshing location is safe for all those who wish to enjoy it.

I had the base built within hours of having my category, again knowing exactly what I wanted the build to consist of. Nothing worked how I wanted it to and this went through 4 separate design concepts - this one being the last. Before I knew it I had 48hrs to get it completed and I hadn't gotten past the base. Work has been hectic and I am supposed to be there in around 5hrs from now, but I wanted to make this half way decent to what I had first envisioned. No slides, no wave pool, no fountains... While this build looks good, I don't consider it to be competitive in the way I wanted. Good luck Legopard!

Sorry I didn't come and comment on this sooner Thoy, especially seeing as now I look at it, it's one of the best builds in round 4, if not the contest. Category-wise Legopard got you fair and square, but your build is so clean which sounds strange to say when it is full of cobbled paths, water effects and foliage. The base/ border deserves special mention too. Nothing short of brilliant.

I really like that last picture; that circular base and border are very impressive in themselves. The pools look great, too... Great idea to keep this one simple and classy.

Excellent build! Very original, and I especially like how you made the vegetation, and the fact that it is ROUND!

Woah. (Looking in awe). Question, and don't take this the wrong way, Roman guards? Why? I like it but I don't understand it.

I think you just won the 'best build not to progress to the next round' award off Blake with this one. Seriously stunning stuff! I've enjoyed each of your MOCs in this contest, they've all been excellent in different ways!

Very original and brilliantly made!! The result is Beautiful. The mix between green, DBG and TBBtiles is perfect. Hope you have recovered since... ;)

It's a pitty that there can be just one winner. This is such a clean and well structured creation, just beautiful.

Quoting The Timinater! (Moving to AUS 17th Dec.) NOOOOO! you got knocked out!!! oh, well, you went down in style :)
Yea dude, to be honest I'm a bit relieved that I'm out. These last two weeks at work took its toll on the time I had for building, as a result I was burning the wick at both ends of the candle. Time for some rest :)

Quoting Shannon Ocean Sorry Thoy I have to agree with Chris on this one: I voted for Legopard's entry. Your waterpark looks amazing and is SUPERBLY built but I felt it wass a little too clinical for me. Some areas of Legopard's build were rough but it had more fun features going on. Thanks so much for playing and making it so far into the comp!!
Thanks Shannon. I completely agree with the comments of all three of you judges. There comes a point where tidiness is outweighed by sheer detail, PU and category. 'Pard had me on this one right from the start. I wouldn't have voted any different myself :)

Quoting Cody G This is a zen build if I've ever seen one. You probably weren't thinking that when you were building, though. Interesting take on the category, your layout and creative interpretation earned you my vote.
Nah when I was building I was thinking "Wish I had some better inspiration!" Haha! To be honest I was expecting to get 3-nilled here. Your vote came as a surprise, but one that I graciously accept :) Thankyou!

Quoting Chris Roach This was the hardest so far of the competition for me to call, but after flipping and comparring between builds i am giving my vote to your opponent. This is a great build (like u always produce), I like your take on the category, but to me it felt a bit stale or maybe too symetrical to convey the splishy splashy fun of a waterpark! Sorry man! Good luck with the other judges!
I'm not sure why it was hard, but I guess that just says how good you thought my build was, so thanks. The moment Legopard uploaded I knew who the winner should be, so I'm glad He is moving forward :)

Hey not a problem dude. The comment I put on your page a few days ago says who I thought should have won :) So congrats and more power to you as you go forward in the games :) I've enjoyed your previous creations and so I look forward to seeing more of them on the pages.

Excellent build, and an original take for that category! I love the cleanliness of it all, your round base is gorgeous, and it really looks quiet as it should be... I have to get my hands on some of those trans blue tiles! I'm happy not to be a judge on this one, so good luck to both of you!

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist Wow Thoy, this is top-notch! Taking a page out of Blake's book with the base, eh? ;) Looks incredible, I love the pattern you gave the edge. And I see that you've broken out the foliage, does this mean that we'll be seeing your other project soon? Best of luck!
Haha, like Blake, I try to learn what I can from other builders on the pages. Blake's circular base was certainly inspirational, I did however feel that some detailing would help the edging make it fit into a medieval setting better. Sorry my mind is fogged up at moment from work, could you refresh my memory about the project you are referring to? :) Thanks Luke

Another entry of Thoy's magnificent 1X1 rounds pattern technique, we've come to suspect you of having thousands of them. The ring and greenery are a great addition to the serenity of this MOC. I would have loved to something new from you, it looks a bit too safe as a build for you. Or am I just being spoiled? Good luck with your judges.

I this is awesome! I like all the mini little, "falls", as much as I want all your transparent blue tiles! O,O My overall favorite thing was the WALKWAY! I may have to order just 2x2 round tiles to do that! Any way, I love the circular base. Good luck!

What a tremendous landscape and base! Brilliant, just freaking brilliant. The aesthetics of the whole build are wonderful. The only thing I would have changed is to make one guy off to the side with some "bubbles" coming up from behind.

Wow! This is just beautiful! And I'm very jealous of the amount of trans blue tiles and one by one slopes you've! My AFOL has only few of them... The child in me is just a little bit disappointed that there are no waterslides!=) But it's still a very great build! Best of luck with your judges! Ps: I've got an AFOL who's still in the race. Can you find who he is? You've some clues on my page... =)
