About this creation

Quick and dirty ipad photo. About 60% Finished.
Kickstarter Project rewards starting at $12
Final photo won't look like this – it will be beautifully shot in studio. :)
ALSO, if you prefer the abandoned houses series, these beautiful fine art prints are avail. as rewards as well.
I've been able to make good progress on this even with power down from Hurricane Sandy. The power still remains out so lighting is hard to capture details, but this should help to show the basic extent of what has been done. The model is almost 2x as high as before and much more detailing throughout.
I'm afraid funding for Kickstarter stalled after a few days, so I have a bad feeling this won't get funded. If you are interested, I would again like to remind you of this project and to spread the word. :) Less than 2 weeks to go. kck.st/QSoXYT
I do like the theme here and am excited to continue on with more such Odan based projects. In my abandoned house series, I explored texture through the current events of financial collapse and it's effect on foreclosed homes … and of course the effect of abandonment. Both pictorially the abandonment of home as well as society's abandonment on the struggling.
Now with Odan, I explore the texture of a world entering a spiritual crisis. As we are seeing our 4th (I believe) spiritual awakening now, it is interesting to examine a world opposite our own. That is, deeply spiritually based with spreading pockets of disillusionment and materialism. The texture of these pieces is not only one of the fanciful detailing of buildings, but also the texture of different cultures with their contrasting light and darkness of spirit.
Once again, thanks to the (a)(t)fol community for all the inspirational builds that help make this possible.
– Mike

Very respectful! The micro-scale is well done with the magnificant ornamental design.
I am bond to minifigscale, and presently building an gothic cathedral, sometimes i have the wish to build the ornamental things in smaller scale, like you did, because the moc starts getting big.... |

Thanks all for the incredibly generous comments! Also for concern over hurricane. We were very lucky only to be inconvenienced with outages. I too am saddened for those who were more than inconvenienced. |

Well, I don't think that I necessarily need to say this, but I will anyway. WOW! Is this ever amazing. There may not be a better craftsman on this site. Your abandoned houses series was beyond impressive. They looked like photos of real houses. This, however, is the best landscape work I have seen on this site. The most impressive castle I have ever seen on this site, hands down. The fact that this is straight out of your head really adds to the appeal. I know this work continues to expand, and I wait with bated breath to see where it goes next. My final word on it is that I hope things clear up for you with the hardships caused by the weather issues that you are dealing with. Let me be clear that this has nothing to do with you being able to have ample lighting to complete your work. This is just my own wishes that your life goes back to normal as soon as possible. |

Thank you all for the very kind encouraging comments! I tear up just thinking of this project as, to me, it is more than pretty. It is a world project that stirs within me deep spiritual and religious undertones. I am too slow to develop the story here, which I really need to work on to bring these aspects out. Thanks again and for all the inspiring mocs out there. |

You are very dedicated... This thing really needs all the funding it can get, and to everybody who has not donated or does not plan to - this is better than buying LEGO for yourself, because the LEGO you donate will be used in the best MOC, instead of just good through great. |
