My friends, I give you Lesson #1 of being a Lego Builder: Never melt your bricks.
About this creation
I was photographing a vignette and went into the other room to get some stuff. I smelled something burning a little bit later, and I realized I melted down some bricks. ;-;
I was testing out a different lamp for lighting underneath the vignette, and walked away for about 2 minutes. I smelled burning paper, and saw this. I dumped all of the figs off of it and ran to the faucet to run cold water on them - it helped!
In response to this, I made a BrickLink account yesterday. Many of you know me as being a cheapskate and not using BL, but I'm gonna use it now.
This really sucks, common parts. >:O

Don't be an idiot like me - watch your builds when you post them!

The damage is worse when it's deliberate. A few times I made mocs on wheels to see if my friend's moc (on wheels) could take it down, or fall apart trying. We would repeatedly ram each other's mocs together. |

Hey Kyle, I was just stopping by to check out whats been going on on the pages (Since I am now inactive) and I can see people are dealing with the same Ol' problems, melting their bricks. :P |
|
|
Ouch. That doesn't look good. I wonder what is Lesson #2!

Guys, I used a lamp that my father used in college. 1980's lamp FTW! It is a very small 40 watt bulb, if it isn't given enough ventilation it will build up extreme heat. |

Wow! What lamp did you used since it melted them in 2 minutes? lol never heard something like that before. Well lesson learned. |
|
|
Sorry, Kyle, but for the ones who didn't suffer that, it can be considered awesome. I wouldn't use that word (and obviously cool, that word is very ironic due to the heat factor), but I honestly find it interesting... and a bit funny. Only a bit. However I wish this won't happen to me ever. I'm sorry about this, dear. But, honestly, what kind of lamp did you use? Mine is powerful, but I know it would take hours to melt one single brick! |

Wow, that's a powerful lamp! |

Why do you people insist that this is "awesome" and "cool"? IT IS NOT. Yes, I might be able to use them for other types of builds, but it is NOT COOL OR AWESOME. I ALMOST MELTED ALL OF MY BRICKS IN A VIGNETTE AND COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE. |

Well, guess it's time for a surrealist MOC!
Oh Chris...I was thinking about that! I took them all apart last night with the help of a screwdriver, they look pretty cool. Half of them can be used on one side of the brick, so either a surrealist moc (possibly something Dali-ish?) wouldn't be out of the question. I could also use them for twisted and melted debris in war zones. >:D |

I think you might want to get that lamp fixed if it gets so hot to burn paper and Lego pieces. That's over 450 degrees ferenheit dude! |

Might as well keep them in-case you can use them somewhere. Maybe a melted down door or something? |
