Heath

Legopard vs Heath Flor
Robot Jox: Your job is to create two robots (with pilots)in a knock down, drag out fight to the finish in gladiatorial style combat. This idea is inspired by (Read: stolen) the 1990 cult classic, Robot Jox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot_Jox (man I loved that movie). Consider this a “mech” type category so no microscale please. Your arena does NOT have to be a full scale "thing" with a FULL crowd and stands and all that (that would be asking WAY too much of some collections) but some sort of “battle area” must be built.

Yes, i watched this movie before building my MOC for this category but I expected something different.
I found the wasteland a bit too boring for a battle so I chose an oil rig as the arena.

I spent most of the time for the two Mechas because the focus of the category were the robots. My decision was to create two completely different Mechas.

The first one, "0-wl", is a very fragile but agile Mech with a big rifle in his hands:

The second, "ch-9kn"; is a real battle-machine:

The Mechas stand on diffrent levels:

Because of some trouble in my non-Lego-Life the photos aren't in the best Quality.
As always I tried to capture the important details of the setting:

I hope you like my "take-on".

Best of luck to the Elite-Eight.
Thanks for looking and reading.

There is always a solution without Customs!

Wieder einen Dank an die üblichen Verdächtigen.

Hey Legopard, I'd like to personally apologize to you and all the other contestants for dropping off the face of MOCpages when I was supposed to be judging. With family obligations and near-finals homework and projects, I completely neglected the MocOlympics, and for that I'm sorry. Luckily, Kelso and Moodswim were able to help out! Thanks for playing!

*phew* at least you cannot brag about beeing more successful than me in my first MO. Just kidding, you would have beaten me in every round with all of your entries. Great work and keep it up.

Now that was a close one! A very tough match-up! It's been an honor and a privilege to go up against a talent such as yourself Legopard! I look forward to seeing many more of your amazing builds in the future!

[NOTE] Chris has asked me to step in as a guest judge, so lucky you! The mechs here are awesome and I love some of the parts usage, especially around the legs/feet. I would have to agree with some of the others, though: Heath's more detailed and elaborate set pushed him just barely ahead of you, in my opinion. Sorry, but my vote goes to Heath. This is an impressive entry, though!

*Note* The head cheese, Mr. Phipson, has asked if I would step in as a replacement judge in a couple of matchups - this happens to be one of those. So, without further ado...Killer work, Legopard. Love the detail you worked into the bots, and the idea of an oil rig seems like a terrific choice for a knock-down drag-out with these two. I did take into account the fact that the bots weren't piloted (as someone else pointed out in the comments here). Given that, and Heath's terrific set design and playability factor, I'm going to have to roll with Heath on this one. VERY close, though. And if I were judging on the bots alone, you'd have him beat.

Awesome stuff, Legopard. The mech's are pretty different from most styles around, but weren't they supposed to be manned? Love the setting and the witch hat is exceptional PU. Good luck with your judges!

Arr, there was I expecting a pirate mech! Nevertheless both your mechs are fantastic, I really like the unique shapes you've given them. The oil rig idea is cool too, a suitable setting for a mech throwdown. Good luck with the other judges!

I definitely like your mechs better but i judged on the total package and presentation and the added playability of all the parts of your opponents stadium nudged my vote slightly to his favour, Good luck with the other judges!

Excellent entry. I love how different your bots look and especially the very unusual design of the O-wl bot (nice insider btw.). Using a derelict oil rig was also a clever touch and very original thinking. --- Good luck.
