GN-005/PH Gundam Virtue Physical
Heavy Gundam Mobile Suit for Ground Operations
About this creation

The brainchild of the Earth Federation's Commander Jack Patton, the Gundam Virtue Physical is a mobile suit designed with one purpose in mind: bringing the maximum amount of firepower and protection to bear at any critical point on a battlefield.

With this design philosophy in mind, General Dynamics engineers built a new mobile suit that could be fitted with the latest and greatest in anti-mobile-weapon armor and arms. All models of the Virtue are equipped with an oversized reactor core, both generic and specialized Reactive anti-beam armor, an over-the-should Heavy Beam cannon, 2 anti-mobilesuit Panzerfausts on an arm mount, and two huge missile pods hidden in the oversized leg armor. All this armament comes at the cost of any booster packs or mobility assistance of any form.

While the handheld weapons deployed with the Virtues in the field depend on pilot preference, the preferred armament is far and away a Heavy Recoilless Bazooka with high explosive rounds. Virtue pilots have been heard on internal comms referring to them as "boomsticks", among other crude nomenclature.

All in all, the Virtue is truly a stand-alone mobile unit. Virtue pilots rarely work with support units, seemingly preferring to wade into battle alone. Despite this strange combat philosophy, very few Virtue units have ever succumbed to enemy fire. One unit has been reported captured by rebels, but only after an extended battle depleted the pilots ammunition and his Heavy Beam Cannon was destroyed by a direct hit. Even still, rumors say the pilot held out inside his cockpit for a week before hunger forced him to surrender to the rebel forces.

The pride of the Earth Federation Ground Arm, not a single Virtue has been equipped for space combat. Despite this, there have been space kills logged by a pilot in a Virtue Physical. Reports say an Earth Federation carrier came under attack while transporting a Virtue to a military hardware review on Colony Six. Lacking any other mobile suits to engage the enemy, the Virtue pilot strapped his suit into the launch catapult, advanced it to the end of the launch platform, and proceeded to return fire while strapped to the transport ship. The suit and the ship survived, and the battle-scarred Virtue was displayed at the hardware review without so much as scrubbing the impact burns.

Pretty slick! It looks as though it can fulfill the "Heavy Weapons" role quite well. Excellent design!
