The CLHFD seems to have bad luck with their tower ladders, as TL12's former 2012 Ferrara was removed from service in October after suffering an electrical fire. In order to avoid delays and service interruptions, the department reassigned a 2013 model Ferrara already on order from a reserve apparatus to Tower Ladder 12's new frontline rig.
The 2013 model remains VERY similar to the 2012 model, but updated with new Federal Signal Aerodynic LED pods, traditional compartment doors instead of roll-ups, and a new stainless-steel cab construction. The vehicle still comes equipped with a 95' FDNY-style Aerialscope rescue platform, 500g tank, and 1500gpm pump along with 100' of ground ladders and a small supply of 2 1/2" connection hoses. Very popular among the department's staff, this rig also comes with Ferrara standard Grover Stuttertone airhorns and is the third rig in the CLHFD to be equipped with them, after Quint 17 and Engine 12.
Congratulations!
