Interior detail of my custom Millennium Falcon's Main Hold, with some good closeups!
About this creation
Here are interior closeups of the ship's main forward hold. Like the rest of the ship, it is under constant evolution to try and betteer match the film reference material. The digital cam I used for many of these shots was small enough to actually fit INSIDE the ship, which led to some fun shots! Like the cockpit, I recently changed Han's chair at the ship's main computer to a more proper highback style. I've also just revamped the repair bay hole in the floor to match the scenes in Empire better, shown in the newest pics at the bottom of this page.

Ben instructs Luke in an earlier version of the hold. The blue bricks were later changed to dark grey.

The same scene, but with a revamped back wall. The doorway on the back wall between Obi-Wan and Luke is not in the films and I have since removed it.

The older rendition of the ships's main computer. I liked it's look and it remained unchanged for years and years, but it was just too tall!

The revamped computer and back wall.

Closeup of the computer. Note training helmet hanging behind Ben. I haven't come up with a way to attach a blast shield to it yet...

More recent revision - highback chairs - though I later realized that only Han's should have been done this way...in ANH, Ben's seat does not have a high back! Oops...it has since been changed!

   The seats themselves.

Older version of the game table area. I never liked the clunky legs on the official R2 fig (plus they make him nearly as tall as the other minifigs), but...

...here in the revamped pic I relented and replaced R2's legs (with the feet trimmed down a bit)!

An overhead shot. Though a bit out of focus, it shows the entire hold.

Looking out to the cockpit hallway.

The entire "east" wall (if the front of the ship is "north").

Circuit access (where Han and Chewie are welding in Empire when the Princess alerts them to the Mynocks on the ship) and game table.

Han hands Chewie (in the overhead compartment) a bail of wiring (or my weak spur-of-the moment LEGO attempt to simulate it) in this scene from Empire.

Closeup of Chewie in the overhead compartment.

A bit of comedy (or attempted comedy) refering to the fact that many of the plates in my Falcon have been there for a LONG time, and I refuse to dust them...it adds to the ship's junked up look! If only I had spelled CORELLIAN properly...

Here is the newly revised floor access well, with one cover piece removed. Though the minifigs are set up as in ANH, and the floor access is only shown in Empire, it seems logical that it was implied to have been there all along, and not a new modification by Han. It now has an accurate hexigon shape, though I'd like to obtain cover pieces in black to match the rest of the floor.

   Overhead shot with panels removed.

Closeup of open access well. I want to change (and add to)some of the internal details, but the piecemeal way the floor was built originally (and revamped) means I'd have to tear the whole thing (and many other structures on top of it) apart to do it right...a can of worms I'm really not interested in opening right now!

Han in the access bay from the scene in Empire. I could monkey with it to make him fit a bit lower in the pit, but that's a project for another day. In any event, I couldn't make it as deep as it appeared in the film, as the sets for the interior of the ship often didn't match up with the exterior to begin with (I've had to compromise in many areas of the ship for this reason). Those of you familiar with Robert Brown's Ship of Riddles page (or anyone who, like me, has always recognized cetain incontinuities about this legendary ship as seen in the films) will know what I'm talking about.

I know how to add a blast sheild: paint a helmet visor white, then stick it on the helmet!

great detail, maybe even better than legos new falcon. hey, for a blast shield on the helmet, use the visor from the lego space range. the golden one. it's not brilliant but it works for me.

Awesome! I lov it how you didn't give up on lego at age 16, where most people do, or this never would have been here!

very good you could take his legs off to make it seem as if he was lower in to the hole rather than tearing it apart.
