Secret Santa 2012
You better watch out....
About this creation
Ho ho ho! It's that time of year again!

For the new or ignorant, here's the drill. Some of the members of VLUG partake of a yearly Secret Santa tradition which I am proud to be a part of. Each year names are randomly drawn from a list of the participants and e-mailed to their mystery 'Santa'. They then build something *ahem* suitably festive and post the build around the world to the lucky victim. Some draw inspiration from the holiday period, some from the onlne persona of the builder, some from the gutter. All are worth the effort and this is the third year. We invite you, the unwashed masses of MOCpages, to hazard a guess for fun as to who built what for whom. We will post the answers around Christmas eve.

Here's my prezzie!

Firstly, WOW! My Santa spoilt me rotten this year! For those not into British comedy, this is a (stunningly) accurate depiction of the main set from the sitcom 'The IT Crowd', in particular the 4th series. This wonderfully funny show, written by Graham Linehan, ran for 4 series and followed the misadventures of the 'standard geeks' who run the basement IT department in a large London corporation.

This is Jen, the department relationship manager despite knowing nothing about computers, and Maurice. Maurice Moss is the incredibly socially inept genius who lives with his mum and can't deal with spiders, people, etc. Jen is having a problem with the tree lights.

This is Roy. He avoids work wherever possible, is Irish and has a fine line in geek slogan T-shirts.

The tree.

To appreciate the level of dedication from my Santa this year, I will post up the comparison pic to the actual office when i can. Over 40 custom decals based on the exact posters and stickers used in the show. This is just a small smidgeon here. Also, all the detritus, gadgets, manuals, clutter, etc. are wonderfully represented with a brilliant array of mini builds, printed tiles and clever techniques.

Yes, even the monitors have accurate pictures from the episode. This is a bonkers level of detail. My pictures simply don't do justice to what I have received as a gift and I get to sit and pour over it again and again - I notice something new and clever every time I look.

Thank you so much to my Santa, i'm honoured to have received this and very grateful to be a part of this excellent tradition started by our own Dave Kaleta.

Here is the list of possible VLUG Santas, take your guess....

El Barto
Lee Jones
Devon Wilkop
Dave Kaleta
Tyler Halliwell
Heath Flor
Mr. Xenomurphy
Chris Phipson
Leda Kat
Bryan Bonahoom
Dave Sterling
Stacy Sterling
Giovanni Seynhaeve
Hans Dendauw
Dennis Price

As is customary, let me take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.

Thanks for looking.

Don't know what happened here - I logged on on Christmas day to reveal who my Santa was yet it never appeared.... strange. Still, I will say again that my Secret Santa this year was indeed the staggeringly talented and generous Mr. Xenomurphy! Thanks Thorsten, you are a gentleman. Happy new year everybody!

A TV series? Sounds like our beloved lady from Down Under, Leda. Custom posters are also a very good clue. Leda it is.

Kaleta or Xeno, from first impressions and wild guesses, so just to be on the safe side I will label this El Barto...

This just SCREAMS Sterling, but I can't guess which one (as they are, in fact, a gestalt entity like Grant Naylor)... I'll go with Dave on this one. ~ Chris.
