About this creation

In the seventies Porsche came with the 924 as cheap Porsche, because some parts came from VW and audi, people didn’t see it as a real Porsche. In the early eighties the 944 came, it shared a lot parts with the 924, but it was mainly built with Porsche parts. In the years after Porsche made more versions of the 944, also the turbo, AKA the 951. It had the 944 2.5L 4 in line engine, with of course a turbo which gave it 220 hp, 330 Nm torque (US version a little bit less). More than the 911 N/A in that time.
A half a year ago I bought one and I love it, so I don’t drive it in winter, because of the salt on the roads. So bored and inspired I started a couple of weeks ago building. First I took the wheels, they are from the black cat and 9,2 times smaller than the ones on the real car, so that’s the scale. I wanted to built the car with working steering, gearbox, engine, pop-up lights, opening doors, targa roof, McPherson front suspension and trailing arm rear suspension.
The gearbox was the first thing that didn’t fit, the lego piston engine was too big, not on scale. The McPherson suspension became double wishbone to support the weight of the car (tried it to make as light as possible, but it still weighs approximately 5 kg). I had to make the bottom of the car as thin as possible, so I needed the doors and roof to support the weight and had to leave them out too. The pop-up headlights made the front ugly and the engine bay not realistic.
There is a differential and a working transaxle in the car but in the engine bay nothing moves, steering works, hood opens, suspension is just strong enough to support the car and I think I did a good job in making the lines of the car.
Let me think what you think!

thanks for the nice comments, the shaping I thought was the hardest part, the front I did 5 times or so again, tried different ways. and I don't have the new nicely curved bricks from the ferrari boxes. |

The shaping is great, especially the front is done very well. Nice details, too. To get an idea of the typical curved silhouette of the rear window I suggest something similar to Starscream Soundwave's solution with his Corvette, see http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/348944.
yes I thought about doing that, but I only have the strings in red and blue. I know it would make the shape of the car better
