The main photo above is my 2nd generation Lego Power Function Train Caboose Car. The second generation caboose is designed to have a lighter weight than the first generation. Both the first and second generation caboose cars come with a rooftop observation cupola, ladders to the rooftop, a stove rooftop chimney, a "Lego" line R&R emblem on both sides, and a Lineman operating the brake line. The 2nd generation Caboose car was been reduced in size from a 28x6 to a 18x6 stud platform. To reduce the caboose's rolling resistance - I switched from the American style 8 wheel car to a Europened style 4 wheel car.
Below is a photo of the larger but heavier American-style caboose.
The "Lego" line R&R emblems tiles are from two Lego Desk Business Card Holder kits (Lego#850435). Each "Lego" tile is held in place by two 1/4 length pin which are inserted into the two holes of Lego Technic 1x2 brick.
In the 1st generation caboose the entire rooftop was tiled. In the 2nd generation caboose, part of the rooftop is studded so minifigs can be position there.
Both versions of this caboose were designed as an extra(4th) car pulled by the Lego Red Cargo Train.
