I guess great minds think alike, eh? ;) Hopefully I'll be able to keep branching out in this direction, but the build felt kind of like an out-of-the-blue lucky find, as it were. We'll see! So many new and great techniques in here, Ian! The legs within legs (Leg Inception!), the christmas tree, the recliner, and probably the most brilliant: the gollum-head technique. I have no idea how you came up with that idea but it worked splendidly! The hairs on gollums head made a great 'stache. And the quote was truly amazing, not to mention that fact that this is named after your grandpa, that is very kind of you. Overall really awesome build! The animated cartoon ish feel in this reminds me somewhat of some of Riccardo Z.'s works. I hope to see more of these in the future!

I think the fact that you experiment with techniques is great. Not enough people are reaching for a better build these days, they rely on special minifigs and pieces to make the build, or simply resort to stacking blocks to get the build. This is fantastic! Z

Ingenious techniques here Ian. I am personally quite fond of clever maxifigures heads and this is one of the best I have found in a while. Also, I admire how you got a nice Christmas tree that is in scale with your figures, unlike, for instance, in my Decorating for Christmas model.
