When my dark ages finally ended in 2009, I started with my nephew’s LEGO© collection. He was too old for them and his kids yet not old enough. Several BL orders and bargain offers later, I’ve got my own collection. The timing is perfect, since his oldest son is now ready for the bricks.
But before I return the old bricks, I wanted to try something that came up to my mind half a year ago: A simple but unusual mosaic.
About this creation

Still my most favourite Superhero.

Holy moly! What a beautiful piece of art. You sir are very, very talented. And now for the controversial bit: I'm not going to rate this. Beautiful as it is, it could be made with anything; pasta, coins, paper clips etc etc, and thus, for me, this isn't a LEGO creation. But it is brilliant. |

Epic work. Incredible in it's accuracy. What do you think about the recent twist to the spiderman comics.
Thank you, Toa. Actually, I don't like how Amazing Spider-Man #700 ended. -----SPOILERS----- I still have hopes that Peter will be back one day. Doc Ock/Spidey forgot to destroy the gold octobot after it failed to sting him. And part of Peter's mind is still active in Doc Ock/Spidey's brain. I know many fans are not happy with that ending (I'm one of them), so let's wait what will happen in "Superior Spider-Man". By the way, I really enjoy the "Ultimate Spider-Man" with Miles Morales. Brilliantly written and drawn. |

Simply spectacular, Mr. Xenomurphy. The best example of the "spill" technique I've ever seen. Normally this technique is used to create the illusion of water, but this is the first I've seen it for an actual representational picture. This is taking LEGO and making it a true artistic medium. Did you reproduce an existing picture or is this your own work? Either way, just breath-taking. |

Fun idea, Thorsten. Once I splilled a container of Lego and it came out looking teffifyingly similar to Bart Simpson...does that count?
Thank you, Mark. I know for sure that you own only 3 yellow bricks (the rest of your 100000 bricks is bley), so either your accidential Bart portrait was very small or his face had an unhealthy colour ;o) |

This is truly beautiful and amazing on many levels! I really love how the parts are just placed down on the background and not attached, which is unusual and almost anti-build at the same time. Kinda reminds me of sand art where the grains are strewn about the surface to create an image. |

Here is one of those creations that really challenges the basic concept of what a MOC is, but it also challenges the concept of what ART is. I submit that this creation is in fact, both. It is also a really good example of both, and my favorite subject matter:) so this wins points all around. Mr. Xenomurphy I give you much respect for going outside your comfort zone personally, but also the communities comfort zone as well. well done sir, well done. |

Awesome! I love Spider-Man! Great positioning of the parts. Did you use photo editing for the black background?
Thank you. Yes, I needed to darken the background a bit. It is black cardboard, but I couldn't use my regular set of flashlights this time, so there was some post production involved. In the original pics, the cardboard looked grey. |

Incredible work, one of the best mosaics I've seen. While I see what you're doing with the arty close-up for the main photo, I think that a picture of the whole mosaic may work a tad better. That way people can get the entire effect when they look at the thumbnail rather that having to step back or defocus their eyes to be amazed by the realism. That said, it's no challenge to recognize the skill and time that went into this, and you've created a true work of art. |
