IMP 2816/3J - 2013 Edition LDD
New Frame Test
About this creation

Creator Commentary:

As with the original IMP design this was actually a test design for new frame elements that I "finished off" to add to the IMP series.

Like the originals the emphasis is on it being "mechanical" in appearance, with lots of exposed joints and posing options.

The idea here is that the IMP is much more "solid" or "heavy". Capable of delivering a meaty punch rather than hopping and skipping into battle.

If the previous designs were orcs, this is a uruk-hai by comparison (or if the originals were goblins this is a hobgoblin).

Quoting Daniel Brilliant That is an interesting frame with a cool bulky shape, but I do see a problem with the knees, they don't look like they would bend backward in the the proper way to any significant distance, so walking and crouching poses would be awkward. Maybe I'm not seeing it right, but with the knee joint attached in the front like that the maximum angle backward seems like it would be inhibited.
The leg is actually quite odd in how it is jointed, partly as an experiment and partly as a compromise to get the standing stance I wanted. The "knee" is actually behind the shin guard, so the entire calf area is the lower leg and ankle. The thigh has two outward bending joints. I would normally have given it a double joint at the knee, but it made it much taller and I felt it was missing some of the character the stooping pose gives it. Like I said in the description, it's mostly experimental and with all experiments there are going to be a few things I'd do differently in future.

What is this and why does it look like it can rip my face off? MAND-E, bring Serenity! I need some help over here! But seriously, impressive build and it looks intimidating.
