MELO R1: The Gathering of the Clouds
About this creation
Here is my entry into the Middle Earth Lego Olympics.

Now before them the water fell noisily outward and foamed down towards the valley. They flung their pale torches to the ground, and stood looking out upon Dale.

If you have not already guessed, my entry is the Gate of Erebor. Why then, is the title "The Gathering of the Clouds"? That is because it is within that chapter in The Hobbit that you have Thorin, Bard, and the Elven King, talking about the treasure now that Smaug is dead. My depiction is not exactly how I imagined it, but I wanted Bilbo and a few of the dwarves to be present and now I will stop talking and let the pictures speak for themselves with a few descriptions.

From left to right, Bard, Balin, Thorin, Bilbo, Gloin, and the Elven King.

An overhead view.

Another overhead view. Here, you can also the the river make the sharp turn out of the gate described in the book.

A close up of the wall.

The Running River and the waterfall.

Gloin, holding two axes, Thorin, holding Orcrist and the key, and Balin with a great hammer.

Bilbo with Sting.

Bard and The Elven King.

I built the entire moc on two 16 by 32 baseplates and added a hinge piece on one side. But what is going on Under the Lonely Mountain?

Who is this man that the others are so afraid of; and why is there a dead man on the ground with blood spurting out of his neck?

Find out in an upcoming moc.

Quoting Ryan "Ronin" Dragonslayer Excellent build but the Easter egg isn't even related to the Hobbit so I'm not sure why you included it. The gate is well built but the river should be a pool at this point as the Dwarves walled up the gate before Bard and Thranduil came a-knockin'. I love your Bard and Thranduil minifigs and the statues give a good Dwarven feel to the build. I also love that you used transparent white for the river instead of trans blue because it adds to the dreariness of Erabor at this point in the story and gives the appearance of a cloudy day. The gold piled within is an excellent detail. Great build and good luck!
The Easter egg is more of a sneak peek preview to my upcoming Odyssey moc than an actual easter egg. Thanks for your comment.

Quoting Mark Murphy I thought I would point out that the elvenking's hair is blonde according to the chapter "Flies and Spiders"
It is described as blonde, but as to the fact that I do not have long tan/blonde colored hair, I had to resort to brown.

Quoting Ian Spacek Good of you to enter Nathan! I'll let you get away with the Easter Egg scene. Taking into account that you read the Odyssey this year, I think I can guess what's going on down there. Something to do with "homecoming" perchance? ;)
Are Easter eggs not allowed? SHHH! Don't give away to much! ;P
