Wow, Joe, this one looks like an official model for this set, it's so cool! Great job! :-) P.S.: I also thought that this set was a cool replacement for 5867, but then I noticed the lack of functional elements like holders and hinges. I've ordered one, anyway, because it's the 1st set with white 1x4 bows and white 1x2 "grill wedges". I've been waiting for these parts for quite a time, now...
Thanks Nils :). I have built 3 more: a race truck (posted) and two others (to be posted), one of which I really like, the other is meh! ;). It is a nice set; lots of 1x3 bows (not 1x4) and some really nice brackets. Lacks functional pieces and the axle options are very limited. Worth buying though and I can't wait to see what you come up with. |

Great entry for an alternate comeback! Indeed no surprise to see another F1 car from you. ;-) I was eager to get this set as well, as it looks like the follow up of 5867. However the inventory doesn't seem as great. Will probably still get this set though... And thanks for promoting the group! :-D
Thanks, and you are very welcome NK :). I think you are right it is not as versatile as 5867 but still a nice set. I am always looking for a new 5867 on ebay but they are quite expensive nowadays. |

Very nicely done. The CS pocket money contest has introduced me to restricted building, it looks fun with existing sets too. Cheers for sharing! Thanks Jon, Check out the group that this moc is in (the link is on the right). It is full of builders only using one Creator set. It was set up by Nathanael Kuipers one of my all time favourite builders, it was his ideas that has inspired me. I would love to see some alternatives from you.

Now this is what i mean. "when i get an idea i try to post it as soon as possible so no other would get credit for it, because there's lots of grate and smart builders on mocpages"
Going to buy this set tomorrow and i got an idea to build a f1 but you did it first :P
Grate job.:) Hi Sam, You know what they say - Great minds think alike ;). I am so sorry to beat you to it, it is very frustrating when that happens. It has happened to me on many occasions. It does not mean you can't make your own version, as I am sure it will be different and just as good. Jozsef has made a truck from this set, which was going to be my second alt. but I still plan on building my version. Good luck

Yes, it does look like one of Senna's McLarens. Nicely done, I am always impressed by alternative builds. Maybe I should get a small LEGO set and build alternatives myself - maybe it'll get me out of my MOC block. But I'm a cheapskate so all the sets are so expensive. ;-) -LB Jr. |

It's not easy to build with a fixed set of parts. And so I like these alternative builds very much - they show the true masters of LEGO. Great! Well I am not sure about that, but I do like the challenge. Thank you very much for the compliment.

Well done, Joe. The shaping is perfect. You have a real knack for these formula racers. I checked out that set on bricklink and I've decided that it must be mine;) I'm trying to build up my white and red right now, and that is the perfect set for it. It was a great work of ingenuity to take the pieces that you were given and to create this masterpiece. I'd love to see a full racetrack with some of these beauties on it. Thanks Tim, yeah I have made a few of these now. It is funny because even though I had a reduced brick selection with this one it is my favourite of the bunch. The sidepods and floor are superior on this build - alternate building forces you to think outside the box and sometimes an even better solution is found. Highly recommend this set, I am going to buy another as it comes with some excellent pieces that are quite expensive and rare on bricklink. The small black brackets will come in handy for my figures and animals. You get two in this set plus a spare. And of course those white double cheese slopes are very tasty too ;). Thanks again Tim |

Doesn't look like an alternative so much as a purpose built- all pieces on deck- sort of build. Impressive stuffs. I might have to grab one of these, some of those bricks look quite nice. I still got till late March, but I think I would only have it built a little while, then take it apart slowly for other (hopefully more detailed) cars, I need to get more parts, it's getting boring 'playing' with them on the computer, much more fun in real life, now back to work for me, I think i'm gonna order some parts soon :D |
