About this creation
It occurred to me on this day that my MOCiversary was four days ago. My, how time flies. Since I started this journey back into my childhood, my daughter has turned five, and my wife and I celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary. The Munch has shown increasing enthusiasm for her crazy father who is as passionate about his toys as she is hers, (she caught me swooshing once…awkward), and my wife has demonstrated a virtually limitless tolerance for her husband who has on several occasions boxed her in on the couch with piles of bricks. She shakes her head stoically and tiptoes through the plastic minefield like the trooper she is. (Insert special tip of the cap to my wife here). I have built 18 MOCs in my first year and I show no signs of stopping. The rest of my family has become involved and insists now on seeing what I build before I tear it down. They want me to print off pictures of what I do and each time I visit, I fear that I will find the pictures hanging from the refrigerator. I joke, but it only encourages me to keep doing this thing.

First, to the AFOLs:

As an AFOL, (maybe you other old codgers out there can relate), I find myself from time to time, (normally in between builds), wondering what I am doing with this whole thing. There is this little voice in the back of my head that keeps reminding me that I will never do this for a living, so why do it? I decided that for my first MOCiversary, I would give my thoughts on that very matter.

The bottom line is that this is what I do for me. All that I ever ask of myself is that through my life, I will find one thing or another to express creativity. There is still so much that I have to prioritize over it to be a productive member of a family, or a company, or society in general, but just to take a few moments out of my hectic schedule, in a quiet house, when the ladies in my life have settled in for the night, and lay some paint, or scratch a pencil over a piece of drawing paper, or rap away at my keyboard to try to achieve literary mediocrity, or, in this case, keep sticking pieces of plastic together until it becomes something, has become of great importance to me.

I can’t say how happy I am that I have settled on this outlet.

To everyone:

I said all that I’ve said and it’s all well and good that I do this for me, but it also cannot be expressed enough how much I appreciate this community. This is the first thing in which I have participated that has such a global effect. I have met, (without meeting), so many remarkable individuals, (out of fear of forgetting someone, for there are many, I won’t mention names, but you know who you are), that have, without even trying, inspired me and pushed me to be a better builder. These individuals come from all corners of the Earth, (I never have been able to find the corners on a sphere, but I digress), and have vastly different origins, but this experience has made it clear to me, that no matter how separated we are, we will always find our people. This last year has been a pleasure, and I enthusiastically look forward to the next.

The minor purpose of this MOC was to put the main pics of all my last year’s works onto one post, but the main idea was to reach out to all the MOCers out there whose path has crossed mine at some point, and say, “Thank you.”

But enough of all that mushy stuff. If you’re interested, here’s my last year of MOCs.

Congratulations Tim on your FIRST..... What a great way to celebrate all that you have achieved and also shows how well you have developed your skills in such a short time. Both in construction and image editing. A pleasure as always to see a Moc on a well deserving background. We will all have to wait in anticipation to see what you have installed for us this year. WELL DONE and BRING IT ON. !!!!!

Tim, you have a way with words that I respect immensely. It sounds like you have a fantastic family and I wish you all the best in this new year, and I couldn't agree more about the LEGO community. I enjoyed seeing all your MOCs in order, it's amazing to see how refined your building and presentation skills have become in only one year. Your talent with spacecraft is inspirational, and between your phenomenal works and the tremendously well-written comments you leave on other people's creations you've given a lot to the MOCpages community. Also, I saw WarScape on your feature section, thanks for the brilliant review. Here's to another year of great builds, I can't wait to see what you post next.

Congratz on your first year Mr. Tim! I hope to see a ton of awesome and amazing MOCs from you in the future! (Perhaps some of your daughter's as well; I bet she'll be an excellent MOCer.)

Tim you have a fantastic and diverse collection here. I remember most of them and your latest is another unique and creative design. I also remember reading your homepage for the first time and instantly connecting with your thoughts. I totally agree with your comments in this post too. Building is a personal thing but it is also something we can all share together. Receiving feedback from friends, family and this wonderful community is always a pleasure and I hope my comments are also well received. We are all learning from each other and new inspirations are always just around the corner. Long may we enjoy our Mid Life Lego Crisis :D

Tim, I really "dig" your explanation to the AFOL's. Very cool, your builds are great too! I like how you interact with the community, as I have found many individuals are so "Freak'n" sensitive, not naming names (Stewart the Mime) that it doesn't feel like an AFOL community, rather than an therapists office with LEGO to play with in the waiting room. I agree, a bunch of adults playing with LEGO, weird. BUT, in my opinion, it is about the build, and how far you can push the brick, and Tim, when you push the brick, people notice! High five Broseph. Impressive year and I wish you, and your family, as well as their feet, all the best in the future. I believe that you have just defined, for lack of a better term, religion. Not the zealot driven, TV promoting, money hoarding conglomerations that the word congers, but the genuine collective that true honesty seems to magnetically attract. It would seem that "our" dogma is, as Ole so eloquently put, Play Well. Remember that it is never too late to have a happy childhood and that creativity is what separates us from the human race. Thank you for sharing your vision with the congregation (that goes for all of you MOCers out there as well).

That's an impressive first year Tim, some great builds! Really glad you've also chosen LEGO as a creative outlet - you build the sort of stuff I like, and you're good at it. Out of all those builds, I think the Firestorm is still my fave - looks great on that stand. Orion, whilst impressive, I see as a stepping stone to something bigger - but you know that already ;p Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in 2013 - all the best to you and yours :)

Tim, well first of all happy anniversary. You and I actually started posting at almost the same time, it was my anniversary yesterday (and I might post some sort of summary of my year in the next day or two). My daughter also turned 5 this year, and I recognise your description of the patient wife - my hunt continues for a way to search for bricks without making that annoying noise in the middle of her favourite TV show. Most of all though I want to echo everything you said about the LEGO community, it is one of the friendliest, least pretentious, and genuinely supportive I have come across. Oh and also to note, you've produced some great MOCs, and it is really nice seeing them lined up. The Orion I think was your most important this year.
