T-42 Skyburst (Dieselpunk fighter-bomber)
My first dieselpunk, Crimson Skies style fighter. Loosely based on the P-47 Thunderbolt. Armed with 6 machine guns, two guided missiles and a pod of rockets.
About this creation

Major Jean-François Trương of the East-Vietnamese Colonial Airforce with his T-42 Skyburst.

Because most of the fuselage was taken up by its massive engine, the Skyburst's cockpit was very cramped so the ground-crew would usually modify it to fit the pilot's measurements as closely as possible.

I love your style. It reminds me of Nausicaa or Porco Rosso. Steampunk has never seemed fully realized to me plus I'm not a fan fo the color brown; however, this is unique and intriguing and still rich with potential. Way too cool!!!

Thanks Darren! On all four of these planes the wings ended up being more like racks for attaching weapons to engines than for providing lift :)

I love it! It looks like the design philosophy was to simply attach wings and armaments and strap in a pilot to a ginormous engine!
