MELO R2: David. Vs Toa Infernum
About this creation
Bracket: Orthanc

Category: The caverns of Isengard
Saruman is going industrial! He's forging an army in the caverns of Isengard. His workers aren't quite your "Santa's little helpers" and his products are far from typical merchandise (if such a thing exists). The Uruks are underway! Let's see you put his factories into bricks!
The Lego "Orc Forge" set...seriously? Come on, you're better than that!!

Link to my opponent and his entry.
Link to the Middle Earth Lego Olympics.

The whole moc.

Since this is the main spot, I'll start photos here. Yoda-I mean a random orc is pulling out an Uruk-Hai(there!) to show Saruman. I know Grima was not in this scene, (to my knowledge) but it looked better with him there.

This is probably my favorite orc in the whole moc.

The rock-work.

An Uruk climbing the ladder to do something.

A main route bridge, I'm quite proud I got it to stay that way. (secure with hinges, ya know?) Sorry about the blurry pic, I didn't notice till it was uploaded. :1

My custom made bridge. C:

A pointless picture showing off me stone stairs.

Uruk archers run up the stairs to war.

Stairs.

I originally had an orcy elevator, but after eight designs, (failed) a spiral stair-case which I had not enough pieces to do, and too much wasted time, this is what I came up with. I am actually quit proud of this.

A one piece bridge. D:

But it IS lego! Don't believe me? Check out this set!

A crane, It's my favorite playability feature. :)

You twist this handle,

and it raises the bucket!

An orc dips a sword in a bucket of water to help the blade keep its form.

Looks like hes had too much of Sarumans best ;)

An orc runs off to do the bidding of his master.

An orc sharpens a sword.

The forge. I am glad I found another use for those slider bobbers.

A guard, and a ladder leading to higher levels.

An orc hauls in lumber for the fire.

Furnaces. (Smelting pits, fer deh metal)

I have some buttons on the back,

Which make the pits light up! It looks much cooler in real life.

Anvils.

The 'armory'. I know in the movie they just make piles, but this looked way better.

Figless.

The figures.

Saruman and Grima 'Wormtongue'.

Gollum? I would like to thank the judges again for hosting this contest, and wish the best of luck to my opponent, Toa Infernum. :)

Hope You Enjoyed! Thanks for Looking!
God Bless You And Keep You ~ David.

Quoting Ian Spacek If I'd been one of your judges, I think you would've had my vote on this one. :) But speaking outside of the contest, you've got some great details and functions presented here! Nicely done!
Thanks Ian! This means a lot to me :)

Quoting Daniel . Hey man, this is pretty cool! It looks like some of the rockwork is a copy off of mine. I had some that looked exactly like that a while back. The only thing that could be improved is that there should be more molten metal. You know, to give it that really hot feeling. 4/5 D .
Thanks Daniel! Yeah, It does look like some rockwork that you did a while ago, and when I was building it I was thinking how similar it looked. I would've liked to have more molten metal, but I don't have many sword pieces in that color ;) (Just sos you know, The flames coming from the forge where they are making the swords is just melted down metal, not fire)

Quoting Topsy Creatori(StoveTop nomore!) This was a lovely scene you built. So much detail and goings-on and yet NOT at all 'too busy'! I love the introduction of the other 'pointed eared' species for the fun of it. There was much good building design and talent going on here for 'those with the eyes to see'! :)
Thank you Topsy!

Quoting Ryan "Ronin" Dragonslayer Wow, David you really went all out again! I can't believe you lost! How do they score these? While your opponent's build had some nice qualities, this is built far better and has a lot more detail - not to mention it dwarfs the other entry. Great work on the spacious cavernous feel and all of the different bridges are great. Excellent build and sorry you didn't win; I hope you'll enter the MIT now - you still have a week or two and I know you'd come up with something great.
Ryan, your comment has made my day. It made me feel like had actually made something good. I hope I at least get one vote so that I know I am preferred by one of the judges. I am happy for Toa, and glad that he gets to advance, but it would be to get three votes against me like in the MOs. I will not enter the MIT, as I am a judge, as not to go back on my word, but I will admit it is tempting. VERY, tempting. Thank you for the kind words, Ryan. They made me feel good. Now I wait for the final judges vote, to see if I even stood a fighting chance.

Quoting Max Pointner This was a close call! The scale of this build and the different orc activities that this features are clever, but I thought your opponent's level of detail was higher than yours. While I got the feeling of the spaciousness of the caverns from your build, your opponent portrayed the smelly, cluttered atmosphere that I feel is mandatory when orcs are present. While my vote went to your opponent, I really appreciate the rope bridges and flames of your entry.
Oh well, thanks. :(
