About this creation
Matthew Oh vs. Lee Muzzy
Category: "You shall not pass!"
The typical last words of your average wizard. A narrow bridge, an inviting drop, a demon of the ancient world, and an old man with a walking stick. Build WELL or I'm warning you: "you shall not pass."

Link to the Middle Earth Lego Olympics, and Lee's wonderful entry!

Presenting...... THE BRIDGE OF KHAZAD DUM!!

I also made my build playable...

You just pull this pin..

And down it goes!

Bye bye!

Some pictures of the Balrog

I am very proud of the head, which took hours!

The legs also took a couple hours to make...

But this has to be one of my favorite parts! The fire going from the head down the back.

One last overall picture.

And one of the reference pictures that I used

Something for the judges to take notice of; the head is completely snotted, as is most of the Balrog. I also used capes as part of the wings.

Good luck to you Lee!

Thank you Ian, Max, Chris, Michael, Aidan, and Mark for creating this wonderful contest!

Soli Deo Gloria!

Matthew

Quoting Michael Kringe Lee's build seemed a little bit too blocky to me, yours is simple, but the design is not bad and the playability and the Balrog is excellent! You get my vote!
Thanks Michael for your vote!

Quoting Everyone
Thank you all for the awesome comments and critiques!
Quoting Timothy Wallace Wow this is amazing Matthew! I love that play feature and the Balrog is very close to Peter Jackson's. Good luck!
Thanks Timothy!
Quoting Medieval Guy The Balrog is excellent, and the collapsing bridge is pretty cool.
Thanks Medieval Guy!
Quoting Everett .M I really like how you built the balrog, but i do agree you should get a black sheet or something for the back-round, but other than that great job!!!
Thanks Everett! I don't have a black sheet, and gimp didn't do the best job for black, so I stuck to white.

Quoting Riccardo Zangelmi Great work my friend ;D I love the particolar of the bridge... awesome idea... Best of Luck! :D
Thanks Riccardo!
Quoting Aidan Frusher Awesome Matthew great job! Love the Balrog!
Thanks Aidan! I am sorry that you lost, but you put up a good fight!
Quoting micah burgin Only improvements would be A. a black background. B. set the exposure to a very (but not too) low setting, that way it looks dark. C. consider playing with your camera, finding things like macro mode, manual, shutter priority auto, (allows you to make a minifig look invisible by 1. darkening the area[no lights on for this one] placing the minifigure, taking the photo and abaut halfway through the exposure pulling out the fig.) full on manual mod, and other modes your camera may have.
Thanks Micah! Your comments are always very helpful!
Quoting the Legionnaire Hey man good build I like the rocky-ness of the build and the smooth tile of it all but I must concur with the judges it lacks a little bit of feeling that your other build do but still this is a great build =)
Thanks Legionnaire! Yeah, it was rushed.

Quoting Max Pointner While neither of your builds totally blew me away (I can say that because I know both of you), here were the pros and cons of each. Lee's entry was somewhat blocky, and his pictures lacked your clarity. However, Lee's bridge was curved, his pillars were massive, and his presentation was not bad. Your build seemed very simple. The only thing I thought made the bridge unique was the break-away section. Your photos were crisp, your balrog resembled the picture you used for reference, and the pillars you used, although small, had some nice details in them. This came down to initial reaction: while I liked Lee's idea better, your build was more visible and overall cleaner. You have my vote.
Thanks Max! Yeah, this was not my best, I was not completely happy with it. Thanks for the vote!
