The flight ended only just in time for him, just before his arms gave way. He loosed Doriís ankles with a gasp and fell onto the rough platform of an eagleís eyrie. There he lay without speaking, and his thoughts were a mixture of surprise at being saved from the fire, and fear lest he fall off that narrow place into the deep shadows on either side.

About this creation
When Lego came out with "Fierce Flyer" my mind immediately went to this scene in the Hobbit. I like the scale of this better than the official eagle that will be in the "Black Gate" set.
These last two have Gandalf riding on the back of the eagle. This wasn't in the book, but certainly is fun! A small modification was made to the eagle to add studs in the right place.
