Self Portrait
Self Portrait Mosaic
About this creation

A self portrait I did a while back. Originally, I had drawn a self portrait in a sketchbook for an art assignment in high school. I got the idea to superimpose a grid over it with each cell being the exact size of a lego brick. From there it was just translating the shades of the drawing into different color lego bricks, and bam. Here it is.

I actually used this as a piece in my art portfolio when I applied for design school. The professor who reviewed my portfolio was much intrigued by it, but thought I should have glued it together, saying "What do you expect to keep this thing together, gravity?"

We're good friends now, but I left the mosaic as is. Gravity seems to have worked fine up until this point, and besides, I may need to reuse those LEGOs for future projects.

You are very creative, cool stuff! You were right in not glueing it BTW; I would never glue Legos. That would go against a lot of "Lego principles" - at least in my opinion. Steffen
