London Tourist Bus made to the same scale used in the Legoland Parks.
About this creation
The original design of this model is not my own - I have used an existing design, but modified it somewhat.
If you have every visited one of the Legoland parks, you can't fail to be impressed by Miniland - entire towns built from Lego bricks. The detail they include in every single model, right down to the brick people is amazing.
I've always liked the scale that miniland is built to (I believe it's somewhere near 1:24) and prefer building at this size where possible - bricks and space permitting.
During a trip to the UK in 2002, I had the opportunity to get a close up view of miniland and took hundreds of photos. When I wanted to start my next project, something at Miniland scale was the first choice, but the question was what? Being an English guy living in America, the choice was pretty obvious - that quintessential English icon, The Red London Bus!
There are many London bus models in Miniland Windsor. Although my model was going to be similar, I didn't want it to be a direct copy of what has already been built. I also wanted to incorporate some brick people into the design and so I decided to chop off the roof and create a tourist bus, complete with Union Jack design on the side.
