"I've got the plans for the upgrades to the new Armored Shell unit based on some of Helios ST's suggestions." 'Helios? Ain't they one of our affiliates? Since when're we takin' advice from them?' "Since they started building machines nearly twice the size of ours." 'And your point? Size ain't everything, y'know.' "It shoots rainbows." '...' "From its face." 'Good point. Lemme see them plans.'
About this creation
The Heavy Defensive Armored Shell V-15 Vanguard is the revised version of the flawed HLD-4 unit. When Helios brought the issues with the Warden to our attention some months ago we immediately began work on fixing them (as well as improving existing features), but were unable to release details until now due to issues in the External Server Networks and, according to our technicians, something about an editing procrastination virus. Whatever that means.
Statistics:
Designation: HDAS V-15 Vanguard
Height at Shoulder: 25 Feet
Weight (Without Weaponry): 10 Tons
Primary Functions: Front-line defense and close-to-mid-range support
Power: PSR-2880 Rechargeable Energy Cells
Top Speed: 80 MPH (Supplemented by SB-N17R0 Rear Thrusters)
Other Equipment: T313-PRT Hand-Mounted Transport Beacons, SB-N17TR0 Rear Thrusters
Weaponry: OS-5P0NG3 Shields, EN-5AB3R Energy Blades, SMTH-W3550N Bolt Casters

One of the suggestions from Helios was to reinforce the waist area. To accomplish this, we added a small bit of armor in the area that provides extra durability without sacrificing mobility.

The old PSR-1440 energy cells have been replaced by new PSR-2880 cells that boast a higher capacity and better efficiency allowing the unit to remain away from the hangar for a longer period of time.

The RT-6 thrusters have also been replaced by SB-N17TR0 thrusters, increasing the unit's top speed by 15 MPH. The T313-PRT transport beacons have remained the same in this upgrade and still transfer the unit's arsenal to and from its off-unit PO0-F Hammerspace weapon locker.

The Samson broadsword from the old unit has undergone only a slight modification to its serrated back edge and has been re-designated as the EN-5AB3R Render. The new unit has been given two of these blades.

Another suggested upgrade was the addition of small blades hidden on the underside of the unit's shield. Unfortunately, our engineers seem to have not understood the meaning of the word "hidden" in the memo they received. They did, however, make their own addition of some nice scattered energy cannons to it which have proven to be enormously effective at short range. The shield has retained its unique osmosive feature that converts any force exerted on it into usable energy.

The ECP-24 Gemini pistols have been altered almost beyond recognition and now have an increased rate of fire as well as new close-range offensive capabilities.

In place of the suggested hip-mounted grenade racks, the unit's shoulder plates have been replaced by non-guided rocket pods.

Haha! I looked again after Sylphion mentioned the weapon naming, and now I totally get it. I thought that it looked "familiar" when I first saw it, but then again I have not deal with much 1337 1NT3RN3T SP33CH lately.
If you know what to look for, I try to include a lot of stuff like that in my descriptions (my frame contest entry, for instance) as well as other references that the vast majority of people probably wouldn't get anyway (for example, a Vanguard 15 (V15) is actually a type of sailboat that I own and race as a hobby). On the side, though, I would appreciate it if you didn't "like" any of my creations more than once. I get that you're trying to be courteous and stuff by rating it highly, but I'd just prefer to have to earn all the likes I get from individual people instead of just comments if you can understand where I'm coming from with that. |

Quoting Sylphion -
I really like the improvements you've made! It really does seem to me that you've reached (Or nearly reached) the pinnacle for this frame/design! Also, I see what you did there with the naming of the armaments. Keep it up, man! (On a side note, I found myself grinning like an idiot when i read the introduction)
Thanks! I was wondering when someone would catch on to my naming conventions. +1 Internet to you for interpreting my 1337 5P34K. With regard to the design, I think this is actually the mech I'm the most proud of since I didn't borrow designs from anyone. I'm still not sure I like the pistols though... |

I hear you with that one. I try to add as many features as I can with my MOCs, but sometimes it does get ridiculous. So some things are left to the imagination. I try to show where the weapon systems on my Mobile Suits are stored to make it more plausible, but then again I am also working with larger creations. |

Haha, I like the "rainbow" reference at the beginning. That was good. Overall, I like the improvements. I am curious as to how it carries two shields AND two swords, or if it only sorties with one armament type.
I didn't take any screenshots of it except in the main pic, but it can wield any combination of two weapons at a time (sword/shield, shield/pistol,sword/pistol, etc.) while the rest are stored in the "Hammerspace" locker which I didn't actually build. Because I'm lazy like that. |
