Battlegroup Frame Contest Entry: SD Gundam MMORPG (Demo)
Introducing the newest MMORPG: SD Gundam!
About this creation
Here is my contest entry for the Mecha Contests Group, hosted by BiO and uses his Battlegroup Frames. The purpose was to create three different Mechas that could work together as a group. I instantly knew that I wanted to do a Gundam-style MMORPG as my theme. For simplicity, what you are about to see is the "demo version" of the "game." Do note that this is not a real game, and is a product of fiction.

Here we are at the character selection screen, with the Tank class that is used for the demo currently selected. It is in the RX-78 Nu Gundam configuration.

The RX-78 Nu Gundam uses a one-handed Beam Rifle as its primary ranged weapon. Although it does not do a lot of damage, it is able to hold aggro on NPCs very well. It does Beam Weapon damage.

A physical shield is equipped in the other hand. Although weak against Beam Weapons, it is very strong against Physical Weapons.

The back of the RX-78 Nu Gundam shows the Beam Saber (used for melee combat) and the Funnel Bits. The bits are great for gaining aggro on multiple NPCs that may be attacking allies. They can be assigned to either attack up to three different enemies or can focus on one single enemy. They also have the ability to form a Beam Barrier Shield on the RX-78 Nu Gundam, thus rounding out its defenses against all weapon types.

Now we shall discuss the DPS class, shown in the XXXG-01HSR2 Heavy Sandrock Arms configuration.

Its primary ranged weapons are two Twin Beam Gatling Guns. It is also equipped with several rocket launchers to help augment its ranged capabilities. Mounted on the upper torso are two Gatling Guns, which give it a close- to mid-range ranged Physical Weapon option.

On the back are two Heat Shotels for melee combat. This is also where the Twin Beam Gatling Guns mount when swapped for the Heat Shotels.

The ORB-X666S Akatsuki Legend Gundam configuration is currently used for the Healer class, which we shall discuss next.

Being a Healer, the Akatsuki Legend has very little in terms of powerful offensive weapons. It is equipped with a Twin-Bladed Beam Saber for melee combat. It also has an Energy Drainer, which siphons Health and Energy from an enemy to replenish its own Energy supply.

On the back are its unique Funnel Bits. The green bits can be assigned to an ally to make repairs and fill the Health bar. The blue bits create a Beam Barrier Shield around a friendly unit. For offensive ranged weapons, it is equipped with two Large and two Small DRAGOON Bits. These are slightly weaker than those used by the RX-78 Nu Gundam and exist solely to give the Akatsuki Legend offense capabilities when needed, mainly for completing solo Missions.

Here is a screenshot of game play during the demo. A Squad of five is attacking a Boss Mech. Two Heavy Sandrock Arms Gundams are attacking from range while the other is engaged in melee combat. The Akatsuki Legend is using its Funnel Bits to simultaneously heal one Heavy Sandrock Arms and create a Beam Barrier Shield around the RX-78 Nu Gundam.

A little parting shot from the three Gundams.

*Twitch's Remarks*
I came across the contest group not too long ago and saw that there were only two entries for the third contest and that BiO would not judge only two entries. So I decided to make a third entry, even though this contest ended last year. As I stated before, I knew that I wanted to make a Gundam MMORPG. It just seemed to fit. So how did I create the different Gundams? Here is how!
RX-78 Nu Gundam: On BiO's Battlegroup Frame page, he mentioned that it would be funny to make the smallest unit into the heavy one. So, I took that quite literally and made the small frame into the "tank" class. I was originally going to just make a mini RX-78 Gundam, but realized that it needed a way to get aggro on multiple mobs. That is where the funnel bit idea came from. Now this is where the "mashing" two different Gundams idea came from. The RX-93 Nu Gundam had funnel bits, but the RX-78 did not. So I decided to combine the two and altered the name to reflect this.
XXXG-01HSR2 Heavy Sandrock Arms Gundam: I followed the theme of mashing two Gundams together from the same timeline, and instantly knew that I wanted to do a Heavy Arms and Sandrock mash-up. I also chose the second small frame as the DPS class since it would be hilarious if the large mech was the wimpy healer while the smaller two did all of the offensive work. The "SD" (Super-Deformed) idea came from when I made the head for the Heavy Sandrock Arms Gundam. It looked so ridiculously large compared to the body that I just had to go with it. And hence the name of the "game" was changed from "Gundam Adventures" to "SD Gundam: MMORPG."
ORB-X666S Legend Akatsuki: This was the hardest to make. I knew that the only sensible way to make a "healer" was to use bits since there is no spell casting with Gundams. So I turned to Gundam SEED and used two opposites: the Akatsuki and the Legend Gundams. I wanted this one to look as ridiculous and stupid as I could. Hence why the torso and backpack are colored like the Legend Gundam and the rest is colored like the Akatsuki Gundam. I have never seen a weapon like the Energy Drainer before, and thought that it was a cool idea.
Well, thank you for viewing, and I hope that you enjoy! Ratings and comments are always welcome.

Quoting joshua vance physical shields actually do very well against beam weapons
Yes, I know that in the anime/manga the physical shields are often covered in an anti-beam coating. I made the change mainly for "balance reasons" in this "MMORPG," otherwise it would be too over-powered.

Quoting Klushots (Formerly Me23456789) You work fast! A very unique and original idea you've got there. At this point I don't think I'd be able to call the winner, but let's just hope BiO can and does... I'm still not quite sure about the meaning of "funnel bits," but I'm guessing they're something along the lines of drones with very specific roles? Yeah, I'm terrible at this Gundam stuff.
Thank you! I cannot name a winner either, and it does not matter to who wins. I saw that you two put forth great effort, only to have no judging occur. I feel that you deserve that chance. As far as funnel bits and whatnot, here are two links that should help describe them. http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Universal_Century_Weapons#Funnels_and_Bits http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/DRAGOON

Ha, I forgot to add that this is my first Mini Mecha build, and I have lots of respect for those that build in this size. My largest obstacle was ensuring that there was enough detail without overdoing the details and going overboard. So I have lots of respect for people that build in this scale.
