A minifig scale model of the Ferrari F60 Formula One race car from 2009.
About this creation
Lets take a look at one of my older MOCs. Back in 2009, I set out to create a minifig scale model of the current Ferrari Formula One car -- The F60. It may not have been the best looking F1 car anyone had ever seen, but it was the newest one. Plus, I had stickers from "8168 Ferrari Victory" that I could use to make my model more accurate. Unfortunately, a few of the stickers that I put on this model in 2009 have either started to peel or have come off completely. I'm not sure why this is, seeing as Lego stickers tend to stay put pretty well. If anyone has a fresh sticker sheet from Ferrari Victory on sale, please let me know.
Speaking of Ferrari Victory, I thought the set was nice, but I didn't like how chunky the cars looked. I thought there were too many plates stuck all over the car bodies, which prevented them from looking streamlined. I knew that if I wanted to greatly improve in this area with my model, I was going to have to sacrifice the ability to fit a full minifig in the cockpit. But I had an ace up my sleeve for that problem . . .
^ Here you can see the whole model. Still shiny after more than three years =)
^ I went through a lot of designs for the front wing, and this is what I liked best.
^ The rear. Note that little piece on the underside of the wing. I don't know what it's called, it's just a thin 4x4 plate with a hinge thingy on the bottom. I used this piece to hold those 1x1 slopes in place.
^ I'm really happy with how the air intake turned out -- it matches the real thing in all the right places. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of a good way to represent the camera that goes on top.
^ The sidepods are probably the least accurate part of the model. They just aren't shaped quite right . . . but this is really the best I could do. It's not BAD, just not as good as I wish it could have been. It's hard to get the details right in such a small scale.
^ Remember the "no space for a minifig" problem? I designed this car to fit one of those "driver body" pieces from the old Drome Racers line. I have two of these bodies from "4593 Zero Hurricane & Red Blizzard". The helmet is from "6546 Slick Racer", one of my first Lego sets.
^ Perfect fit =) it would have been literally impossible to fit a full minifig in here with out increasing the size of the model in some way.
^ Next to the real car. I kind of want to build another 8-wide Formula One model now =P It's such a fun scale to mess with. Comments are appreciated! Also, you can find a Lego Digital Designer recreation of this model at the Lego Digital Designer Gallery. It will be listed as Ferrari F60 under the username Swiftyyyy. Thanks for viewing!

Another great one! I particularly like the profile. All around this looks great. Keep up the fantastic work! :-)
Thanks for the support! In the future I would love to build more large scale models (possibly replicas), but I'll need to acquire some more pieces. Most of the bricks in my Lego collection are fairly outdated at the moment =P
