About this creation

This is a model that I wanted to build for several reasons. I hadn’t built any LEGO cars for a few years, having been specializing in replica weapons, and I wanted to show myself that I can build in other genres. I’ve always been fond of Cruella de Vil’s car from the classic Disney film (one of my sister’s favorite movies), and I was first inspired to build it when the LEGO Group produced the Two-Face hairpiece from LEGO Batman back in 2006. It’s been about five years since I constructed my original de Vil car, back in my TFOL days, which I had brought to BrickFest 2009; it was a very rough model that I was nonetheless proud of at the time. Now, as I will be attending BricksCascade 2013 in March, I want to bring Cruella’s car back to Portland with a few improvements.

My original rendition of the car, which was completed on August 14, 2008.

My new version, completed February 5, 2013; both my building (and my photography!) have improved a bit in the past five years.

Anyone can improve their building skills if they keep practicing!

The construction process for this model was just a matter of getting each of the distinctive components (like the wheel wells, roof, and spare tire mount) to look right and then bridging the gap between them, ensuring a solid connection. While I studied pictures of the car from the movie, I did not have any measurements to use and just estimated the vehicle’s proportions.

P.S. The next model I plan to post is Glamdring, Gandalf’s broadsword from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. I just need to finish the tip of the scabbard!

I'm sorry to take so long in getting back to you; my LMG WIP has been gathering dust on my LEGO shelf for several months now, and the weapon is about 25% complete. I still hope to finish it, but it's a low priority to me now that I'm no longer taking LEGO guns to fan conventions or selling instructions for them.
