About this creation
Ok, so it's been a while since my last post, as in I haven't posted since the MO's.

This is a sweet number I have been working on for around 7 weeks, in small chunks at a time. Overall it has only taken around 40 hours of actual building.

There will probably be those builders who think themselves elite and go on about simple techniques and repetition and blah blah blah... If you are one of those builders, please, feel free to leave when you wish. I have seen comments on other forums talking about my builds and others. I need to make this clear, I don't build for the audience, I build because I enjoy it :)

If you don't like repetition, don't visit Italy or Greece, there were a few ancient civilizations that built their cities with repetition. On the argument of techniques, it's all about looks. You could use the most difficult techniques and create an average look the same way some of us can use simple techniques and create a fantastic look. In my opinion it's all art - and art is personal, no one has the right to diss other people's work, while they shared it with you, they did not build it for you.

Without any further nonsense, my latest build :) Hope you enjoy!

PS. I should also mention that none of these pictures are in their original order because the uploader couldn't handle the jandle.(Kiwi lingo for Flip-flop)

The effect of the dark/light gray 1x1 round plates against the brown 1x2x3 slopes is fantastic. It gives the walls a curved look. The sculpture behind the castle made of 1x1 round and of the golden POP pieces is stunning. In itself, the design of these sculpture is simple but put together, it is really effective. I will steal your bell design ;-) There's so much to look at. I don't see repetitive technic here, I just see a fantastic creation build with passion and dedication. I usually don't post such long review but this is so good I had to do it justice and take the time to tell you how great this MOC is. *****

Astonishing! I have no idea what else you should add to make it better, it is just simply perfect! Nice words, also. If you enjoy something you should continue no matter what anyone says. Back to the build, the techniques donīt seem that repetitive to me, and even if they were, the build still looks magnificent. This is the type of work for what I have you in my favourite builders. Enough said :D The point is just the glory of this masterpiece.

Amazing amazing thing. I really like the trees, and the enormous towers, and technically I like everything. The scen is very lifelike, and it fills like it is just in action! The trees are my favorite part. The colors are just great. :)

Quoting Chris Bramley this is seriously cool. enough said!! i agree with you about the repetition aswell! i quite like repetition in my builds, i think they make MOCs easier to build, can be less parts intensive, and i think repetition can also make castle builds that bit more historically accurate, which is a plus for me! 5/5 Chris
Repetition is great for developing consistency in aesthetics. I like it more for the fact it creates an orderly look. Like it was built with a specific plan in place. Thanks for the comment :)

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 great eerie scene! love the color palette on this, I don t like the style of the tall towers, but, I like the idea of towers there, maybe more castle esque grey would look better to me, the rest is just awesome!
Yes those towers are not for everyone, but I like em and for me that is what matters. There are plans for me to expand a bit on this idea. Its a case of getting more resources first :) Thanks.

Quoting Nathanael McCartney This is so incredible. I love the fact that you have studs showing and that things are built the right way up! Isn't this LEGO at its most beautiful? I find studs gives LEGO is character. Anyway great work :)
I enjoy a smooth look too, but yes I agree that some times it is overkill. I haven't seen many of the certified professionals adapt a 'stud-less' style into their builds either. Cheers :)

Quoting Justin L. This absolutely ridiculous. The scale, depth, detail....everything. Awesome.

Quoting Kayne _ Great to see you back! Honestly, who cares if someone thinks this is repetetive or missing some amazing complex techniques. In my opinion it is a great build, is totally recognizable Thoy and fun to look at. This is one of those builds that I can look at each picture forever and find cool little details in each. That to me is a successful build! Great job, and keep 'em coming!
Honestly, I couldn't agree more haha. This is actually a practice run for something much bigger. I wanted to test the style first before committing to any BL orders. I suspect the project will take me well into 2014. I also need to investigate decorative detailing to match it. Thanks Kayne

Quoting alex kenneally WOW! Its amazing! Simple techniques? where?
There, there, there, oh here's another... This might help if you could see where I'm pointing :) The most advanced technique in this build is the graduating water, everything else is brick stacking. Its the design and composition that makes this look like it does. Cheers!

Quoting Ryan "Ronin" Dragonslayer WOW!!!! I DON'T WANT TO STOP USING CAPS!!!! lol this is amazing! I see no reason to dislike the techniques you used; repetition of a technique is, I.M.O., the best way to build. The eye seeks symmetry and, structurally, repetition is the most solid. Take it from me - I work construction/renovation - your buildings are phenomenal. Great job!
The techniques that the dislikers dislike is the fact the building style is just brick stacking, not a single bit of SNOT building in most of my large builds. The designs look simple - and they are. Some people lose perspective of what is important in a build. Function and Aesthetics. Thanks :)

Quoting Marc dZ HE IS BACK!! Yesssss! OMG, very impressive job, here. You could build this kind of dio a hundred times, I would remain amazed and speechless. It's so beautiful. The work on water is -as usual- stunning (mostly with the meanderings). I like the wall texturing of the houses with the "wooden frame", it brings a medieval look very convincing. There is always something epic in your dio, or fantastic. It's the only thing that matters to me: the pleasure to watch and dream.
That is good to hear, because there is a lot more where this came from! I have my next idea in mind already, but will be a few months away :) Thanks!

Quoting Tasty Muffins This is beautiful man. I love the shape and style of the whole thing! I want to build my next castle in a shape like that! I usually put an interior courtyard but I'm thinking a more solid looking fortress like this would be better!
I quite like your castles. I really like this style too, but I would like to triple the size so I can actually have it built up like this around a central courtyard too. And then work at developing some city gates and other types of defences. Thanks!

Quoting Ru Corder It looks so "Thoy." Haha, you definitely have your own style! Excellent job!
You don't know how glad I am to hear that I finally have my own style, after 3 years of people telling my I copy Luke Watkins LOL! Lego colours lean towards cartoonish scenes far better than realism. So I quite like the cartooney look and nearly always go for it. Thanks Ru!
