Alfred E. Bike Building
A faithful recreation of the Alfred E. Bike shop in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan.
About this creation
The Alfred E. Bike Building is a three-story former hotel located in the Haymarket Historic District in downtown Kalamazoo. It is the latest of my series of Kalamazoo buildings.

The building was built in 1910 as the Hotel Holt. The hotel occupied the upper floors, with rooms centered around a skylit atrium. The ground floor was home to the Columbia Candy Company. The building's current occupant, the Alfred E. Bike shop has been there for decades.

The model is my first use of the new 1x2 bricks with the brick profile. I was initially skeptical about the parts, but used sparingly on the alley walls, they make for a nice effect. The sign is a custom sticker I made from a photograph of the real sign.

Quoting Daniel Franke Hi. Great work. Is the house empty or do you have any inventory inside?
Thx! I detailed the storefront windows, but otherwise the building is empty since you can't see into the interior.

a well build classic, you'v captured some great detail without complicating the build. even though the colour mix was dictated by the original looks great, as do the shop fronts.well done.
