Legend of Zelda WIP 1 Wedding Cake Topper
The start of a nifty wedding cake topper for 2 gaming nerds!
About this creation
This was the best I could come up with so far using real LEGO pieces and minimal decals/paint. I painted over Link’s yellow elf ears with Revlon Nail Polish shade ‘Natural Pink’. After taking this picture I noticed there is still a bit of yellow that can be seen on his ear edge. I may go back over this again with the polish? The shield decal is an edited version of one from alanboar on Brickshelf. The skirt decal is my own design based on many I found on the internet. Decal designs were printed on Avery white sticky labels, whose front side I then covered with heat activated laminating plastic. Zelda’s hair tendrils are off-white cotton crochet thread.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 I never was much of a video rpg player...until sega dreamcast s skies of arcadia wich was exceptionnal, so I never played zelda, but, as such, your scene for a cake looks great to me, so, that s anakin s face? lol, I tought it was a clone s, it looks very funny in any case and actually adds to the piece in some way, just that, as a groom, I d expect him to look happier, where can a real man get some grapes around here? lol.
Well, I don't have any of the new SW sets, but when I purchased the head from BrickLink, that is how it was listed? I think the clone heads are yellow? Thanks for looking & commenting! :)

Quoting El Barto ! Neat! I'm sure they'll love it!
Thanks^2! I'm really liking the new LEGO elf eared hair pieces, wish they had more. Also, looks like one guy's Cuuso idea will go to a LEGO forum in March... who knows... more elf ears?! :)

Quoting Michael Kringe Awesome minifigs, I especially like Link? Where did you get Zelda's legs piece?
Thanks, glad you like Link, he is not exactly the way I would like, but LEGO didn't have the pieces I needed in the colors I needed! Here's a link for you to view Zelda's skirt.... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3678bpb14 :)

Quoting Parrington Levens Oh I love that princess fig, that is just fantastic!
Thanks PL... I've now added a white cape! I've also been working on the backdrop structure which is basically a modified/embellished tree from the Hobbit Attack of the Warg's set. Hope your Art studies are going well! :)

Thanks... and you mean the 'just 1 brick plate unit taller than normal' scale? :)

Quoting Nick Barrett Very nice gesture, and done with love and care - I'm sure they'll be thrilled!
Later on... down the road, I'll post a pic of the topper on the cake. And, if they consent, the bride and groom! :)

Quoting JWG 258 great decal work.
Thanks! As I said, I can't take all the credit as they are based on others work. But the idea for laminating the decal top is my own as far as I can determine. :)

Quoting Luke smith Great work! I love the Legend of Zelda series! Your Zelda minifig looks awesome!
Yes, Zelda was made easy by the existence of that dark pink torso that, I believe, was originally made only for key chains! :)

Quoting David Alexander Smith BtW, loving the fact you've adopted top hat Topsy as your avatar! Maybe I should think about making myself a new avatar too?
I don't know why I get bored so quickly with my buddy icons, but I'm always making changes. I'd love to see what kind of a colorful avatar you would come up with! :)

Quoting David Alexander Smith Only ever played one Zelda game ever, A Link to the Past, back on the SNES, so my judgement on accuracy isn't that great. Saying that, I instantly recognised them, and the nail varnish and cotton mods are first class. I'm sure your friends will be over the moon with their genuine Topsy creation on their cake.
Thanks, David. LEGO's production of the Hobbit series was very timely. Allowed these to have nice elf ears. Also, I bought several opened Hobbit kits and will use their bricks in greys, tans, etc. for the completion of the backdrop of which I am still working on the design. :)

Quoting Shockster Studios cool ,links legs look derpish to me and ..um.....WHERES THE CAKE!!!!!
Well, both you and Ru keyed in on the two areas that I had the most trouble with in making Link. LEGO has not been very helpful in their range of available parts. Not to mention that they have kiboshed every Cuuso LOZ project! And, I am not a fan of tooo much paint, it looks really unprofessional!

Quoting Ru Corder Excellent! I think another face might be better for link though... Something a little happier maybe? But the Zelda game that I'm most familiar with is Windwaker, and everyone looks pretty happy in that one :P
I know what you mean about the face! That has been a struggle. But the couple are both blue-eyed blondes. I tried the exo-force blue-eyed face for link but it has a red bandana which I was not that happy about & the blue in the eyes is not readily seen. I also wanted to keep both faces in lt flesh. But comments like yours are why I posted this as a WIP. Thanks! :)
