The Red Scaled Drakephid is an ancient insect, coming from the Aphid family.
About this creation
Some background info:
Its rarely spotted in the wild and tends to exert aggressive behaviour if approached. The Drakephids in general, will grow up to around 8 inches long and can live for up to 200 years.

Some of you will know that I have been looking into articulation and things for a few months, this is the first of what I hope will end up being many creatures. Its nice to try my hand at something with an organic shape, just to see if I can :)

The whole spine is made with a single level of hinges, and the black string on top links the sections into a fixed position, allowing a limited amount of curve. Structurally, this thing is incredible weak and it tested my patience a few times haha. Thankfully I did manage to get it self supported, I fear a small shake would see the thing disintergrate :) Enjoy!

Excellent parts usage. My builds are a little static next to this. I checked out Nick V's work. Frazil caught my eye. Stunning.

Pretty nice insect thing! That string on the back - is it structurally importaint or is it just there for decoration? Because strings for decoration seem like a good idea, worth stealing.
