Coruscant, Industrial District, 10:15 a.m....

...rust...oil...electronics... these smells are new... where am I?

"Ack!" Athorus grunted, squinting up at the morning light as it shone down through the crumbling roof. Where am I?

How did I get here? he wondered as he collapsed back and closed his eyes; the glare was unbearable. And why can't I remember anything?

"Master, he's awake."

"Good...get him up. I'd see this boy who plays at being a Jedi."

"Get up, boy."

...my head... I was in the sewers... that droid had me cornered... I must not have made it.

"I said, get up, boy."
Who is he to call me 'boy'? He's not much older than me... maybe fifteen... he is taller, though.

"All right," he said, forcing his eyes open. "I'm up."

"Who are you? Where am I?"

"My apprentice," the tall man in black spoke. Athorus hadn't noticed him before but as his eyes adjusted to the light, more came into focus. "And you're in a burned out factory in the industrial district... where exactly needn't concern you right now."

"But it does... these are battle droids; I thought the Separatists had no hold on Coruscant."

"There is much on this planet that goes unnoticed by most, Athorus son of Artemis."

"But not by me. I know everything about you, boy; your father was my apprentice, for a time, and though he chose to live a simple life afterwards, he had not vanished from my sight."

"You say you know me? Then you know what I'm capable of."

"I know what you've done, boy, and I feel your potential but I really have no idea what you're capable of. That's why I put that bounty on your head and why you were brought here... I intend to test your mettle."

"...how so?"

"You shall duel my apprentice...though it will be an unfair fight, no doubt."

"Your weapon."

"This isn't my lightsaber."

"It is now...Dojo Kai took your weapon as a trophy when he defeated you and you threw the other one away. Do not attempt that with Troge or he will kill you. This is not a game, Odain. I intend to train you but only if you're worthy. You must earn that lightsaber."

"And remember, boy: Darth Diode will show no mercy should you seek it."

"Now get to it."

"Hmm," the young man chuckled.

"It's you and me, whelp. There's nowhere to run and no one to help you. This building drops hundreds of feet from where we are so don't even think of jumping."

"I'm not going anywhere."

"Good," the Sith said, reaching for his hood.

"I've been looking forward to this."
