2013 MOCathalon Overlooking the Beach
About this creation
Team: Bricks for Breakfast
Category 29: Tropical Paradise
It's cold outside, as Old Man Winter takes his toll on everywhere we all dream of warmer places. Build a tropical paradise you'd rather be vacationing at. Will it be a tourist hot spot or a deserted island? It's up to you, with no size restrictions, and as always the more detailed and creative you are....the bigger the points! Bring some beauty and warmth to those of us who are shoveling snow!
MOCathalon

This build was a bit of a challenge, as it's actually two different parts, so I had to do quite a lot of experimentation with the camera angle, height of the balcony, distance, etc. Not to mention the SNOT sand and water...

Jealous of that white lever. ;) Love the FP!

While the forced perspective here is great, I feel the scene doesn't give a full picture of holiday paradise. I can see how it works, but for me its not really selling it. 3 points. ~Thoy

In my opinion, Nick is taking this and only looking at what was in perfect focus. I think this is briliant. I like that it is not quite in focus, if it was a little more, it'd be better, but I can easily see the snack bar, the umbrellas and the waves. Sorry that happened to you.

Quoting Wes Pitter This is good, but it is hard to tell what the brown structure on the right is. Maybe a snack shop? I do like those little umbrellas and the waves. 3 points.
Thanks, yeah, some sort of restaurant/food stand. :)
Quoting Chris Phipson I don't think Nick looked at this moc fully... the forced perspective really sells it! 4 points ~ Chris.
Thanks! Made my day! :D

Quoting Garett Smith This is fantastic! I don't know why nick gave you a 1 on this?!
I'm wondering that too? All my links are working, etc...

Well, I'll simply say that I sat for quite awhile just looking and looking! The colors make one warm and happy. The FP makes one L@@K! :)

Looking good. I still think that's some of the most convincing FP I've seen. The focusing of the camera adds so much to this, well done - I say go ahead and see what the judges think.
