Then, in a rush of wings, Fawkes had soared back overhead and something fell into Harry's lap - the diary.
For a split second, both Harry and Riddle, wand still raised, stared at it. Then, without thinking, without considering, as though he had meant to do it all along, Harry seized the basilisk fang on the floor next to him and plunged it straight into the heart of the book.
There was a long, dreadful, piercing scream. Ink spurted out of the diary in torrents, streaming over Harry's hands, flooding the floor. Riddle was writhing and twisting, screaming and flailing and then--
He had gone. Harry's wand fell to the floor with a clatter and there was silence. Silence except for the steady drip drip of ink still oozing from the diary. The basilisk venom had burned a sizzling hole right through it. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Fawkes the Pheonix.
Salazar Slytherin's massive stone carving.
Harry Stabbing Riddle's diary, and thus, sucking Tom back into it's pages.
I picked the second Harry Potter book, due to the fact that it's one of the most memorable books from my childhood for me.
With the release of the movie series based on the books, my perspective of the end scene may be a bit skewed, but I think I managed to pull it off how it looks in my head.
Making it into a pop-up book idea like some of the other entries to this category could have been cool, but I figured I'd go with a simpler/cleaner version, just to be a bit different.
And that's a wrap folks!
This is my final entry into the 2013 Mocathalon!
After Team Jigsaw had to break up this year due to the age restrictions, I didn't think it'd be as fun, but I was very wrong in that regard.
Thanks to my awesome teammates for throwing me ideas, and encouraging me to start over when I didn't do something right!
Till next year!
